Default How much boost on stock H22 head

Yo guys,(Yes I've searched but haven;t found my answer)

I'm in the process of putting together my built JDM H22a. I'm going to daily drive with about 15 psi and maybe 22 psi on the weekend at the strip. I've seen alot of topics about blown headgaskets and warped heads or how to torque ARP bolts.

I need to know how much boost a stock H22a JDM head can take for a short period of time, maybe a run or 2 now and then at 22psi. Are there going to problems with the valve springs?? If the valvetrain is capable then i'm going to leave it stock and save some money there.

Thanx

what do you mean by "built"? also, tuning is a HUGE factor there.

He probably has a sleeved h22 with rods and pistons on a stock head. Pretty much what I'm doing. However, I'm concerned about this as well. BUMP for an answer.

I think Steve Oaks was running the stock head and made 580whp, Im not sure if he has upgraded since he's at 780whp though.

The stock h22 head will flow up to 500whp no problem. The rule of thumb I go by is a ported head will make as much power as an unported one with about 1-2 psi less. As far as valvetrain components go, you'll be fine on stock if you don't rev up past stock redline. The valves will hold 22psi as well. Just make sure the car is tuned properly.

I have not done anything to it since going to the dyno last month. I'm getting ready to take the motor out and put it in the drag EK in the next 6 weeks or so. I've got so much **** going on with the new company though it's not funny.

Right now I'm going to put a stock h23 in the prelude until I figure out what I'm going to do with the h22 I have here. I kind of want to go all motor and shoot for 200whp and have the car as a daily driver. But then again the prelude is a heavy *** pig and hatch's with swaps will still spank me. Either way, I want a car with a little bit of GO to have as a daily driver. The car looks like absolute **** right now since I sold the body kit and I can't fit a front bumper on due to the intercooler I'm running. Oh well, lol.

Sorry to get OT.
