Default My return to the EF scene

Ahh i couldnt stay away.Ok so i am in the planning phaze of starting a new project civic or crx probably crx though. My plan is to buy a crx si and swap in a dohc zc out of a 88 integra ls a bought for daily beater and to keeps miles down on my 95 gsr.My question is ,what all is needed to make this swap happen(i searched and couldnt find everything i needed to know, and sure i should know all of this, being a former crx owner, but being gone for so long has cause my knowledge of ef's to dewindle while gaining so much knowledge on 94-01integra's.)I'm sorry i know this is always covered but i need to know ahead of time what is required to make this swap go as smooth as possible,so i can get this done. Thanks

THats not a dohc zc..Thats a d16a1 and its doesnt bolt in at all to the 88-91 car...
It does bolt into the 84-87 cars though....

THe real dohc zc that you need bolts in..
A dohc zc has "zc"stamped on the block...You can get them from hmotorsonline.com for like 500 for the longblock..
You can use your ecu and tranny..But you have to switch a couple wires on the dizzy..

Well that would be nice to put gsr motor in crx,But the problem is i dont have a crx yet i sold my 88 hf a few months ago after buying my gsr.I guess my options are buy 84-87 crx or sell the 88 integra ls.I always thought about having a 84-87 crx would deffinately be something very different than what everyone else already has.

dont sell the DC2 and dont get an 84-87 crx.

get a 88-91 crx si and turbo it. (cost you $400-700) depending on how talented you are.

get an EG hatch cx/vx just as light as 90-91 Hatchbacks/CRXs SIs so easy to mod and have obd1 already, so much engine space you ever see a b16 in one of them, god??

DUDE if you have a 95 GSR DC2 and your MOTOR looks like the ones pictured from Hmotoronline above my post, you have an LS motor DOES anyone besides me see this!!

ZC: d16a8/9 <-DOHC 1.6 NON vtec 129hp

LS/RS: b18b <-DOHC 1.8 NON Vtec 140hp
GSR: b18c1 <-DOHC 1.8 Vtec 170hp

this is a GSR motor

first off, an 86-89 integra is not a DC2. That is for the 94+ integras. You have a D16a1 in your 86-89 integra. It is not the same motor as the zc....just similar specs. The ZC comes out of a JDM CRX...not any integra. The mounts are totally different. There is NO way to fit an 86-89 integra motor into your 88-91 crx. Won't work EVER...so don't ask anything else about it.

Your 95 GSR comes with a B18C1 not a B18B non vtec.

You sir are only half right. Yes, the 86-89 integra is a D series motor, d16a1 to be exact as mentioned above. And the ZC and its European cousins are the D16a8 and D16a9. The ZC is out of Civics/Crxs/Integras from diff countries and even some Land Rovers! Believe it or not, the D16a8/a9s were commonly found in many Aus' Rovers. Ebay the name and you can find the Rover Valve Covers :D. If you own a ZC and the serial # under the ZC stamp starts with a 2 the motor came out of a Civic/Crx, if it starts with a 5 then it came from an Integra, coupes and sedans. How do you think we have OBD-1 ZCs? They came in Integras. Rover licensed the engine from Honda and used it, I am sure Honda didn't mind. I guess I should find some resources showing where I got my info from, lemme dig some up. - Darrell

well, since DOHCZCCRXSi was being so technical, i feel i need to correct him on one thing... the ZC was available in some ROVERS, but not any LAND ROVERS. two different companies. i can't imagine a 1.6L 4-banger in any respectable SUV.

oh yeah, about the car thing... just keep rockin' the 88 teg. they weigh about the same as an ED, and the motor you want is already in it.

Ok this is an update i have recently ditched the 88 integra ls(since i was misinformed about the motor and everything, but thanks to DOHCZCCRXSI and everyone else for clearing things up)Now this is the good part.As i was searching for a new crx project,i ran into the guy that bought my old 88 crx hf and found out that after all the money, sweat, and hard work that went into to building the d16a6 i had swaped in the car. this idiot decieded to run a 150 wet shot.no need to go into detail on that lets just say the motor went to junkyard heaven. Now that he has put on coilover, some new recaro racing seats, gsr blades ,and blowing the motor up he doesnt have the time or money to fix it.So this friday the car should be sitting back in my drive way next to my 95 gsr where it should have been and stayed this whole time.I keep you all posted.I havent decided yet on what motor i want to use,But i do know i want to run boost on my next set up.
