wow that sucks... I don't know how they let the car leave the body shop in that condition, especially with the paint under the door handle being a different color

Denny (turbl0wR here on HT) got his ITR repainted by MOB and they did a pretty good job on it. They also repainted the hood on my buddy's Accord and did a decent job, not excellent (fine orange peel throughout the panel which was consistent with all the MOB paintjobs I've seen) and the metallic flakes don't match with the fenders.

They also did that one green DC2 (owned at one point by John, JMS JT) and the color change on that wasn't all that great either. The front bumper was chipping pretty badly, and Aaron M (SilverB18C1) had an issue with his front lip chipping prematurely as well.

From my experience, Miguel provides pretty good customer service - at first, my buddy with the Accord wasn't happy with the job that MOB did (there were ripples where the dent was on his hood) and Miguel took it back and fixed it properly. Hopefully this S2K owner will have the same experience.

Hmmm... this is the first time I heard anything bad about MOB. I was gonna get my front end damage fixed by them real soon. Anyone else had any bad experience because I've only heard good things from them before this.

Basically this is what it comes down to; if you don't know him/them then you're just another customer who's paying a lot of money for apparently sub-par work.
If you know him/them personally, then yeah the MOB reputation lives on.

You might want to search in archived threads about people who have done their own prep work and taken their cars to Maaco/Earl Schieb (Sp..) and painted their cars for under $500. Of course wetsanding and other processes were taken care of by owner of car, but at $500 for a near flawless paintjob that's going to last you at LEAST a couple years, what's the hurt?

i've heard that MOB has gone through some changes and that miguel barely paints any of the cars himself anymore, he has other painters. thats probably where this poor quality is coming from. for a half-*** paint jobs!

Good things never seem to last. Oh well time for another shop to shine.
That's what happens when you don't keep it real and go all in on the "potential" profits.

i know of a great shop in the l.a. area. they're better than mobworks, a little more expensive but better.

its called auto F.L.M. lee from "ff-squad" works there and his dad owns it. they do really great work and lee's old car "spanky" speaks for the work they do. hit me up if you want details

MOB has worked on 5 car for me over the years and I have never had a problem. This is my personal experience. All my friends that I have referred are happt campers, too.

If given a chance, Miguel will do right if you have any issues.
