Default My first engine build. H1 motor. (fingers crossed)

Well, I'm about 75% done my first engine build. After racing Honda Challenge H1 last season with a stock block b16a2 and Skunk2 stage 1 cams, I decided I needed more power . So my options were to pay someone to build me an engine (not really an option for the amount I wanted to do) or just dive in and learn as I go. I started out with a new ITR shortblock from Acura. Then purchased some tools I needed, rod bolt stretch guage, ring compressor, crank pully wrench, ect..

With help from the Helms, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=991796, and http://forums.clubsi.com/showf...art=1 I took out the piston/rod assembly to be swapped to CTR pistons. After inquiring at every local speed shop around my area about the piston swap I decided to just send them to someone who knows Honda's, JE Import Performance. Got them back within a week then installed the new pistons and Mugen oil pan.

Next on the list was the head. I did not want to spend $1000+ on head work so I decided on a mild P&P and valve job. I contacted Ed from Ed's Racing Heads to do the work. He cleaned up the bowls and exhaust ports along with a valve job.

After the head was finished, assembly began this past Friday. I put on the head, installed the sensors, cams, gears, timing belt, throttle body, intake manifold, injectors, fuel rail, ect. Now I'm ready to get the engine off the stand, install the trans with new clutch/flywheel and drop it in the car.

Next thing on the list, I'll be taking it to JE Import performance for a once over, break-in and Hondata Tuning. Wish me luck!

Parts list:
B18c5 block
81mm CTR pistons
Mugen Oil Pan
Buddy Club stage 4's
Buddy Club cam gears
Rocket Gen2 springs and Ti retainers
RC 370cc injectors
B16a2 head
ITR TB and intake manifold
Toda header
Password JDM power chamber intake

I have a B18C ITR and want to put CTR pistons in mine but a local shop said it would be around $1500 if the motor is out and like $2500 if the motor is still in the car... Do you have any advice for me... hahah

Thanks, I'll be using Hondata for tuning.

Well it's hard to say, I've sold stuff and have been helped out a little here and there. Definitely a whole lot less then a shop would charge.

Well, the problem lies with the time it takes to do it, although someone with experience could do it in a day. Most people would charge 20-30 hrs at $70-$90 per hour, that sounds about right. That is why I'm trying this myself.

But honestly If I had a good condition B18c ITR in my car I wouldn't spend the money for just for CTR pistons. There are plenty of other things you could spend your money on to gain more hp then what CTR's would give you alone.
