Get the same tranny but manual. if its worth it all depends on what you plan do with it? you gonna race it? or you just want stick? or is it gonna become a project? me personally I just buy stick off the bat.

Just sell your auto and get a manual, simple as that. Manuals are generally cheaper anyway....

I did it. I needed more hands-on experence. Yes it prolly cost more than just buying another car, but I learned lots...almost more than doing a motor swap.

I went with a 96 civic ex tranny for the ratios and the steel shift forks...the funny thing is, it matches my engine (y8 eng-y8 tranny) like everyone says to do.

Why does he need to get the same tranny?

If you were closer, I would take off my hasport conversion mount to see if it fit your car.

I think you can buy the factory Manual Mount and perch and bolt it to the frame. On the 96+ Civics, they changed the mounting so all you need to do is swap the mount and bolt on perch. The only cars and years you need a special mount is 92-95 Civics and 94+ Integras.

To my knowledge the mounting point on the tranny is the same for all D series and B-series trannies.

Its never worth in IMO. Sell yorur automatic, use that money to buy a stick. Might make profit instead of paying to change it.

Br1an you talk about maybe making some money off of converting from auto to stick. i no its relatively easy but i was always under the imperssion that it would cost at least $700.

There is a plug that you unplug from the auto tranny...Lock Up Solenoid. It plugs directly into the reverse switch on the Manual Tranny. Trace these two wires back to the auto plug at the ECU (green and yellow wires).

Use a circuit tester to make sure its the right wires. now cut the wires at the ECU and run those two wires into the AUTO harness by the shifter.

You will need to jump the PARK switch and Connect the Neutral safety to the clutch if you want.

Here is the diagram.

Im doing one for a customer right now:
the Hasport mount ran 150.
Clutch lines and pedals ran 100.
A b16 tranny is 400+/-
Shiftlinkage 100.
Axels and half shaft 100.
Starter 50.
Many would probably go get a new clutch, resurface flywheel, pilot bearing/ throwout bearing; but for arguements sake, lets say you didn't.

Thats still $900 to convert it to a manuel. What the heck... Automatics are worth more then manuels on the market; why spend money to make it worth less?

I don't think you quite understood what I said.

You can make money if you sell your automatic and buy a manuel instead of converting it.

Because I like driving a manual and I don't care about the resale value of my honda. Even when I buy another car, I'll prolly keep the one I have now.
