wrecked my ek hatch. need advice
***UPDATE***(another one)
well after a month in the shop they said it was unrepairable. they are gonna give me $5200 and it would cost 1300 to buy it back. i'm returning it to stock and letting them keep it.
(old news)
well it wasn't totaled. it was estimated at $3300. the insurance is sending me a check for $2800. they said there driver was only 85% at fault . i'm waiting for the police report to come out so i can go to a lawyer and get the rest of the money.
oh and they are paying for a new cf hood

so what do you guys think? totaled or not.

They don't even like to pay for it then.

what about the car though with that damage will they total it? all that metal that is bent looks mostly cosmetic will a new radiator support go far enough back to fix that.

that doesn't look totalled to me either and yea if you don't have receipt for any aftermarket parts on the car they won't pay for them they'll just pay whatever the stock part is worth
yeah, insurance companies aren't fans of spending money on something they have no receipt for to prove it's actual value.
thank god i saved mine when i wrecked my 94 del Sol that read 110k on cluster last year... i got a check cut for that thing from ins. for $6200 and they charged me $400 to buy back... not shabby.
try to dig up some receipts, and from now on make a file with all of them in, maybe keep them with your title. good luck

Yeah its totaled I wrecked my old eclipse and it didnt look that bad and they still totaled it. As long as the damage done is more than 40% of the cars value or if its unsafe to repair then they will total it.
no way that car is totaled... when my civic got hit the drivers side was touching teh passengers side and every pannel got bent and they fixed it... umm not unless u have the hood on teh insurence papers u wont bet another one... but if u know the smash repairer he should fix it up for ya!
It's most likely totaled due the side impact, which most likely bent the frame to some degree, but you really never know unless the car is in front of you. A good way to check for significant frame damaged is to see if your front tires line up with your rears.
Anyways good luck with the insurance company.
P.S. Please excuse any grammer errors as it is the now 18 hours until the opening of my high school musical and I'm pretty sleep deprived (I got home from school 30 mins ago).

my ex had a similar crash w/ a 1 week old cf hood. the cost of the oem hood w/ paint was the same price and more. just tell them to cut you a check for the hood plus paint+labor and let them fix the rest of the car. I'm sure you have your old hood laying around so take that to the shop for them to align all your other body parts, it's better this way to, because your cf hood should not be used to line up anything. her damage for similar damage on her ek was about 4500. Her accident was a front crash and she had to replace her radiator, support, headlights, bumper, both fenders, and pulling out the other bent metal. hope this helps... if they decide to total your car, then just buy it back and have them cut you a check for blue book value and then go fix it yourself at a cheaper body shop.
Good luck,
ian

Ok...do you know what totalled means???? It's when the car's damages exceeds the blue book value of the car. Your 'old' eclipse problably wasn't worth very much, so it wouldn't have taken much damage to make it 'totalled'. The pictures aren't very good but i'm guessing the car is worth around $5,000 - $8,000 and the damage doesn't seem to be that expensive.

you can cash out on the hood and just buy a new one i didnt even have a cf hood on my car and i got one cause an oem parts often times cost more than after market, and im almost 100% positive that they have to pay for your hood cause i made sure with my insurance company that if anything happend that everything is covered, even for theft i just have to have pictures...
