is MAACO really that bad??
my integra has some some paint damage on the rear bumper and the front lip is all chipped up.. it will need to be sanded, primed, & sparyed.. and the rear bumper needs a good blend job. maaco seems pretty cheap, but i've also heard bad things about their work. i know blend jobs have to be done just right & i want the colors to match perfectly! so, have they gotten any better??.. or does anyone have personal experience with maaco?
i think they only do one coat of paint and one coat of clear.... which is..
... and i dont' think they can do the blend job you're looking for....

if you get ur **** painted by macco, u cant expect your car to be in a mag. cause there surely a difference in a macco paint job, and a high quality shop paint job, but then thats why macco isnt MONEY.
if your gonna beat your cars *** at the track, theres no point in spending a thousand plus for a fuggin paint job.
if you mod your car and use it at the track alot, might as well go with macco.
kyle had the ek painted at macco, and i dont plan on babying to 'show status', maccos fine with me:

I know bad pics...I had them done at maaco...like the guys say: its not show quality. but now when I get a rock chip I dont cry. the more prep work you do yourself I.E. masking, removing parts, sanding, etc the better the paint will come out. slipping the painter an extra $50 doesnt hurt...they ended up painting mine twice because the were not happy with it the 1st time.

the day after:

another car they did of mine, 4 years ago...the paint has held up great. One wet sand about 2 years ago did the trick, after the wetsand it was way better then factory. this was taken before the wet sand. bad pic again I know I need new camera

this is a bad bad pic...but this car was shot my maaco and people say it looks like a $4,000 job. he just spent weeks prepping it and then had extra clear spayed and the had the car wet sanded.

sorry for the shitty pics...

daily driven...had the paintjob for almost a year now...i needed an emergency paintjob so, just went to Maaco. they finished it in 2 days
i'd get it done again, only if it was another emergency. But do it right and go to a real shop
b/c im gettin everything re-done end of this month or so hopefully...not by Maaco though

I took my old Nissan pickup into maaco. IIRC they have different options. I chose the cheapest one, which is just painting over your existing paint. No sanding, or anything. My truck was a little dirty, and I thought they would at least rinse it off before painting over the old paint.
They didn't and painted right over chunks of dirt in the truck bed.
But for under $200 it took ten years off the look of my truck

Yeah, I'm sure. I've seen some of the maaco paint jobs around here, and talked to the painters (which seem to be pretty knowledgable and meticulous about their work) and honestly I could never figure out why people bitch about them so much. I'll probably get my car maaco painted, but not until after I do all my body work and prime it.

Really depends on how much prep you get and what package you are looking at. Maaco is franchised. They do show quality multistage paint jobs also for the right price. They are like any other body shop.

Prep work is the most expensive part of a paint job. I know people who have put in 500 man hours into Body and Prep work into paint jobs. I have a bunch of friends who have done nice prep and body work and have gone to maaco and even with the $400.00 range packages have come out with NICE paint jobs. If you pay Maaco they will do prep work be specific though. Make sure you tell them what you want done and what you don't want done and make sure they write it down. If they don't do it right don't accept it. Maaco is known for single stage quick paint jobs, but they also do 2 stage work. I saw a guy with a black GTO at maaco who had spent $4000 and it looked amazing. Remember again they are just like any other body shop you have to sample their work and make up your mind.

If you know how to prep your car do it. If you hav3e the patience to learn and are good with your hands yes. If you aren't either of the above pay someone to do it. Body work isn't exactly hard but it is time consuming and you must strive to be a perfectionist while doing it.

Me and my friend will be finishing one this tax season. It's for a maaco paint job too, and involves ding repair, blocking, and all that tasty stuff. I'll have pictures too
