Violent shaking in 4th gear
Was driving along today back to school and messing around and in 4th gear vtec around 90ish mph and all of a sudden my window and rearview mirror started shaking violently. Like vibrating, but really really bad. I threw it in neutral and the sound continued till the car slow down a little. I tried again in 5th gear and and the same thing around that same speed violent shaking and vibrating. WTF is up with that? Like it thought my whole window was going to break.
I don't *think* it was anything drive train-related cuz it continued when i was in neutral till i slowed down. I did have a CEL at the time, but I've had that for awhile and i'm pretty sure I know what that is. I have a 94 VTEC lude with a Mugen intake, and a 2'5" inch catback exaust. Any ideas?

Is there snow outside? If so, some snow could have gotten in your rims and threw the balance of the tires off. I guess Honda OEM rims on your Honda Prelude are pretty light, they can be throw off easily. Try driving when it's after a night in the garage or something.
There was snow out but I don't I had that much in the tires. The highway was pretty clear. The car is stock so the stock mounts. My alignment is sorta fucked up but that's never happened b4 with it.
TTT!
Any more ideas? I just just paint my rims and calipers right the day before this so maybe I didn't tighten a wheel enough? I thought I made sure they were made tight tho, but could that cause this?

first, check whatever you have done to the car in the last 24hrs before this problem, such as the wheel lugs.
second, my first thought was one of the inner CV's may have gone bad that is the usual symptom when they go bad.

That could happen if your tire is un-alligned by a lot. Try taking all your tires off and putting them back on again, maybe you had a loose lug & it came loose? Also, make sure all the calipers are on nice & secure (just for the hell of it).
Hmmm this just occured to me. Look at all your tires and make sure that none of them are torn open or anything---Like wires sticking out of them. Your tires could get fucked up pretty bad if you drive fast & put them on in reverse direction (Rotating in the wrong direction).
And I would check to see if that CEL is exactly what you may think it to be, yah never know...
Let us know how things go.
