Default can someone recommend me a sub...

sup guys,

i drive a 96 prelude and i'm in the market for a single 10, or 12 inch woofer. i'm looking for something thats good in a small enclosure. i also want something that hits hard, but still sounds clean. something farily cheap too.

what subs fit this criteria? ive heard good about the he2.
can you guys please give me some advice

thanks

just go find a box you like.. then match a sub up to it.. becasue i have mtx 6000 series.. two of them, and if i wanted to go ported, they would need 2.75 in3 of box space for each sub.. which is freakin huge when you think of what car they are in..

Boston Acoustics G2 12 dual 4ohm if your amp can handle a 2 ohm load. Subs pounds for one single 12 or if you are willing to spend a little more get a G5 12. Subs are designed for a 1 ft cubic box.

audiobahn is utter crap

image dynamics ID10v3 or ID12v3
-cheap
-small box
-sounds awesome
-good output

what more do you want

I have an Alpine Type R 10" in a sealed box, and it sounds very nice. Pretty loud, and very tight. I made the box (0.66^3 before displacement), so it was pretty cheap (and small), and the sub was about $100 (new). So, this is a pretty inexpensive, small, quality setup IMHO. Good luck!

depending on what you want to spend:

adire shiva 12" $125
adire brahma 12" $379

I've always known people using them for home audio and just heard a brahma in a car...thing was sick! For $125 the shiva is a steal

Also I agree that image dynamics is worth checking out

I would say, a DVC Kenwood Excelon sub, since I have one, and it needs a smaller box than I have right now.. BUT.. I havent tried others in the same application...

So for advice, how about you tell us what is going to be powering your sub so we can futher match it, which will make it perform even better.

b) Elemental Designs
c) audiobahn
d) image dynamics

im thinking about getting infinity perfects.. i hear they hit VERY LOW and VERY CLEAN (sq).. and i think SPL? anyone disagree?

From my experience, i've never heard a audiobahn setup that sounded clean. But if you must go audiobahn, go with the immortal. But then again, its an spl sub and not for the sound quality enthusiast.

A friend of mine has a dual sealed setup with perfect 12's. its a unique sounding subwoofer, nothing else like it. they are heavy sob's. only thing with perfects is you want to power them with RMS, those subs fry easily if you over power. they are considered sq subs, and leave em at that.

hey tweekerz, you seem to know or have experience with various subs (hopefully the latter ). i'm surprised to hear that you only gave infinity a 6 because i've read rave reviews.. but maybe because those same people never heard ID or ED subs? can you go a little more in-depth with your experience of the ID subs and ED subs in comparison to perfects? ive been wanting perfects for about 2 years now but after reading this thread and seeing MORE people pay homage to the ID subs and some even mentioning ED subs, i'm starting to feel skeptic. i dont know what i want anymore!! ahhhhh. if it helps i listen to rap, slow jams, and love LOW frequency humming and SPL that hurts your lungs. but not the 500-dollar-a-sub kind. just dont got taht kind of money.

Alot of peeps are hopping on the ID, ED, RE bandwagon due to the internet forum support. these internet brands offer great performance at a reasonable price since they cut out the middle man, fancy marketing schemes, etc. depending on how much you are willing to spend, one idmax 12 powered with rms should give two sealed perfects a run for its money.
