*dyno* 1st gen b16 Vs GSR cams *thanks mainstream!*
a big thanks to mainstream performance for letting me use the dyno jet !
http://www.mainstreamperformance.com
i have a mildly built b16 with
JDM DC 4-1
2 layer headgasket
toda flywheel
custom 2.5 inch exhaust
custom ROCKET chip
everything else is stock
the blue line is GSR cams, the red line is b16 1st gen cams
i use a wideband on the street, so the a/f was dialed in right when we hit the dyno on the 1st gen cams
i swapped to the GSr cams on the dyno and proceeded to lay down 146 whp untuned. the AFR's remained close to the same as with the b16 cams, and with a little tuning, i managed to get 148whp out of it with a 12.5:1 AFR. anything above that would start to loose power, and i tried AFR from 12.5 all the way to 15:1.
as you can see mainly the top end suffered on the GSr cams, while the bottom end was a hair stronger.
any comments are welcome. i think i could have gotten a little more out of the b16 cams with more tuning, once i noticed i was getitng whp out of running richer on the GSR cams

hmmmm, very interesting, i would have figured slightly higher numbers from newer GSR cams vs 1st gen B16 camshafts. GOOD numbers on your B16 though IMO considering cars with similar mods i have seen make 135-140

there will also be a IM manifold test coming up soon!@</TD></TR></TABLE>
You should do the 2nd gen B16 manifold against both itr and the 1st gen B16 ones. A lot of people have mixed feelings about the subject to which makes the best powerband.

Neato test. When I had auto B16 cams and a stock manifold I was making peak power at about 7100rpm.
I see you have that weird "b16tq curve" down from 3000-5000rpm. Mine does the same from 3500-4500rpm.

AFR will take a minute. i got them saved on the datalogger.
they got mildly richer on the GSr cams, and kep0t gainaing power all the way down to 12.5:1

you retard. the hood is open. you can mount any sort of intake up and lay it in the engine bay for dyno purposes.

u must be a JDM h8tr, cause that intake came on my JDM b16
i had a fan blowing into the engine bay and one blowing into the radiator.
IAT's were no factor in the #'s
