Default Question of SOHC vs DOHC

Hey guys can you explain to me the draw you ahve to SOHC Vtec? Not that I didnt love my 98 civic EX with Vted but it wasnt all that compared to my friends DOHC vtec CRX. Why the following for SOHC vtec? Even a Stock B16 Civic SI 99-00 wasnt all that. Jsut curious what your thoughts were.

Maybe because the SOHC Vtec is cheaper in all ways, cheaper to boost, parts are cheaper, the motor is cheaper, etc?

I Rock SOHC because I'm a Cheap J*W and it's light
Not everyone is after the fastest engine
If we all were, it would be too much of the same thing.
OH WAIT that's already happening.

I rock SOHC cause its a simple motor to work on. Blocks can be had for free. No mounts or shiftlinkage to deal with. Its a good platform. I dont wanna go pro with my car,I just want a 300+whp daily driver. Do to my budget that is why "I" got a sohc setup.

I switched from a D16A6 to a B18 LS, mainly because of the aftermarket support and because I wanted to have a somewhat crazy turbo car.

But I know that the single overhead cam turbo VTEC's get pretty crazy too.

1) He has a DOHC vtec, which means he has a B-SERIES, and stock<-->stock a b-series will kick your d-series in the nuts. You're down at least 35 hp on him.
2) You have a Civic EX (all the bells and whistles) and he has a CRX....BIG weight difference! Of course he's gonna rape you in a race! What did you expect?

Now, as to why people like the SOHC vtec engines, there are many reasons. ^^^^ Read all the responses above.
