I LOVE VTEC!
So I finally got my chipped pm6 ecu with the new timing and fuel maps that match the p28 and WOW! Now I truly have SOHC VTEC power.
The guys saying go the OBD1 route are right! BUT you can achieve the same results using turboedit on a chipped OBD0 ecu like I did.
This rendered such a huge difference for those of you using the rpm activated switch to control your vtec. You are missing out if you dont get those proper fuel and timing maps.
I also love launch control!
Thanks to Xenocron for sending me the chipped ecu and burning the proper maps for me

Its amazing what the right way will do
Running a switch pretty much makes the car slower then the stock A6 so why do people do it? so the can say they have vtec?

I think one of the differences between chipped OBD 1 and chipped OBD 0 ecus is that the OBD 1 ECU's have better resolution on the maps which allows for more fine tuning.
That's just what I heard though.

Thank you.
I've been telling people this forever, but everyone is a cheap and/or lazy idiot and never wants to listen.
Now I have a thread to use for reference.

I prefer no-TEC. Low-end torque, a smooth idle, good emissions, and decent fuel economy are all for wimps
Thank you.

BTW i know vtec makes the engine pull harder bud does it retain the fuel econmy? will a non-vtec motor and a Vtec motor get about the same MPG?

Depends on how the non-VTEC engine is tuned . . . for high-RPM or low-RPM use?

I get 26 mpg shifting at 5k and the occasional 8k shift (2-3 per day). I got 35 mpg on the d15b2.
It only costs $17 for a tank of 91. 26 mpg is good considering how much fun you have.
I could probably get better gas mileage if i didn't run 48 psi of fuel and shifted sooner .
