I have searched around and found several different answers/ideas as to what exactly is needed to remove the older 3-channel ABS system from 94-97 Integras.
Why am I looking into this? Something has happened to my ABS system, causing my ABS light to come on, but it's not registering any codes. That indicates that the problem is not a hardware or sensor problem, but rather a circuit problem (some wire is broken or grounding out or something). The Helms has a specific troubleshooting procedure for this, but I'm thinking if I can't find the problem, I may try to just pull the whole system out.
Now I was thinking that since the regular brakes and the ABS system are more separate than on the later Integras w/ the 4-channel systems, that I could just remove the ABS stuff and be done with it. But it looks like this is not the case. Do the brake lines for the regular brake system actually run through the ABS unit on the 94-97 systems?
Some people have said just 2 of the RS Integra front hardlines are needed, and the 4040 proportioning valve. Others say that all 4 front hardlines and the prop valve are needed, and can be made to fit the GS-R master cylinder. Still others say that I would need both an RS master cylinder AND brake booster in addition to the lines and prop valve. I'm hoping that's not the case.
So has anyone actually successfully removed the older ABS system from a 94-97 Integra? What parts exactly are needed?
