Default 99-00 Yellow EK Fog Lights

Hey H-Ters,

I have these oem fogs lights, and as of right now they are still clear. I would like to make them yellow so I can see better in harsher weather and plus I like how they look . What I was wondering was would it be better to just get the PIAA Yellow H3 Bulbs or do the DIY and paint the lenses yellow? I would also like to know , which one would give off a nicer yellow?

Also if I were to paint them, what kind of paint do you believe would have better results the Krylon stain glass paint or tamiya translucent yellow? and why? I would like to paint my fogs but hear when they're painted the paint chips off pretty easily.

if anyone can post up day & night time pictures of both set ups i would really appreciate it! btw my car is black. any pictures of black EK hatches with yellow fogs.

Please Bump after voting, Thanks in advance!

you don't want to paint them to see better

YOUR A RICER

admit it

If you wanted to really see better you would sell them and buy some HID's

yellow cuts fog, whereas white reflects.

Yeah, ya know, $5 to spray them yellow which cuts fog or selling them and spending additional money for HIDs, plus trying to modify your headlight housings to get them to function correctly with no glare...which STILL won't do the job of yellow foglights (foglights do have a function, you know). That's definitely logical, especially given that he obviously wants to have fogs and you don't even know whether or not he has HID already, or if he has the money for them anyway.

And how, exactly, does having OEM foglights make you a ricer?

Some people here just go out of their way with complete nonsense just to be a dick to somebody asking a perfectly reasonable question.

Haha, yeah, remember- anytime someone talks about improving something on their car, it's because its normal state is just intolerable. Honestly, how is saying "I want to see better in the fog" the same as saying "man, sometimes I can't see at all and that's why I'm looking for an improvement."

Honestly, that guy's reasoning is basically the same as saying "why would you buy an intake? If you need power, you need a full-race turbo setup which may or may not accomplish what you were looking for" or "if you need more power in your car, how do you get it out of your driveway?"

By the way, I voted for spraying them with stained glass paint because it'll get the job done and I think the yellow lenses look cool, too.

I'd get the bulbs, they're at least reversible.

Aircraft paint remover is safe on glass.

Just a helpful suggestion. use automotive clearcoat, and put a good thick layer to prevent chipping.

if this were for real safety reasons only an idiot would f**k around with paint instead of getting better headlights.

but I guess as the saying goes if you have a 5 dollar head you buy a 5 dollar helmet

We used Tamiya on my fogs...3 coats of it, and then 4 coats of clear coat if I remember correctly...this is what it turned out like....

I think I am gonna just get the PIAA bulbs though for a couple reason...
1. One of my fog light bulbs burnt out, so I need to replace them anyways
2. Rock chips OWN DIY paint jobs on fog lights

I like the way my fog lights look, but upkeep is a bitch to keep it looking fresh...I would recommend the Tamiya if youre not lazy like me

WHITE LIGHT DOES NOT CUT FOG. Have you ever even driven in fog? Your headlights only HURT visibility.

******* hell. For the 2nd time: these mods are in completely different price ranges, and "better [HID] headlights" do not accomplish what a yellow fog light accomplishes, not to mention needing to modify your headlight housings which is not something everyone wants to do. Seriously man, stop ******* hating for the sake of hating, your suggestions are bullshit and you're making a big deal about someone wanting a ****** 3 inch yellow lense on the bottom of their bumper.

It's like somebody saying they want water, and you telling them they should go grill a steak instead.
