Does this sound like a FITV problem? (Fast Idle Thermo Valve)
So here is my problem, Lately I have been having a weird idle problem in my Integra. The car cold starts fine and idles fine when the car is cold. However when the car warms up the idle dips really low when I let off of the gas. It has even stalled out a few times.
One of the things I checked was the FITV. I did some searching and I read that to test the FITV you make sure your car is completely warmed up. With it running, take the intake off the TB. There are 2 holes right in front of the throttle plate, these are the holes that feed the IACV (top hole) and the FITV (bottom hole). With your finger, cover up the bottom hole (it should NOT be sucking if your car is warmed up). Well I followed these steps and when the car is warm there is still suction coming from the hole, even when the car is completely warm.
Now I am confused because all the threads I found where this was the problem the Idle was always low during cold starts or high when the car is warm I couldn't seem to get the FITV off to clean and tighten it as seen in this thread. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=699787 So before I go through all the trouble of getting it off (one off the phillips screws is stripped) and or buying a new one, I want to make sure this is the problem
Could a bad FITV cause this kind of idle? TIA.

Your idle speed is too low. Warm the car up, disconnect the iacv (you'll throw code 14), raise your idle. Turn car off and reset the ecu. That should fix it.

I opened up my fitv using a ratchet and 8mm socket. Try the other side.

So the problem might just be the idle speed is too low? I dont understand why it would be sucking air through the hole in the front of the throttle plate. My manual said that to remove the FITV you have to remove two phillips screws and two hoses on the front side of the intake manifold. This is on a 1993 B18a
Now I am really confused.

My b16 did the same thing. The fitv kept the idle up when cold. Once it reached normal operating temperature it would stall if i let off the gas. Raised my idle and the problem went away.
Turn this cw until you feel resistance. FITV fixed. Simple as that.
What manual are you looking at?

I think its a Haynes. So do you recommend I mess with the FITV at all or just do the idle?
Another thing is that if I drive the car long enough, say about 45 mins the idle will go back up to about 1200 rpm. I guess I will try and mess with the Idle speed first. Thanks for your help.

Your problem is the idle is too low. It wouldn't hurt to check the fitv. I'd also clean out the iacv.
You may want to bleed your cooling system. That should take care of your idle issues.

Not sure what an IVAC does but, what you are explaining is what the IACV does

Well today I removed the IACV and cleaned it with carb cleaner and put it back on. That seemed to fix the problem. I also raised my idle becuase it was a little low. Thanks for the help I'm glad I didnt have to buy a FITV.
Does anybody know why the IACV gets dirty? I had a really old intake filter and the filter element started getting really old and worn. I replaced it right now but I'm thinking that it was allowing dirt to get into the intake. Hopefully the IACV won't get dirty again.
