think i spun a bearing.... can someone please help
ok i was racing this turbo neon(not srt4) in my EX y8. at about the end of 3rd gear we stopped racing only to hear my engine was clicking. i pulled over and it wasnt audible at idle but when i reved it i could hear it. at first i thought i bent a valve since my ECU was made to rev to 8.5k (i made it for a GSR) but i was shifting at 7.5k but 3rd gear i went to 8k. the next day it was the same clickin noise and i went to honda to get a valve cover gasket to check the head. then went to my friends house we checked it and he said its probly a bearing but he wasnt sure. we changed my oil he said he saw some metal in there. so i headed home which is a 45 min drive. as soon as i turn onto my street the clanking sound got really bad and my car jerked hard 1 time i got home n the sound can now be heard at idle i havent started my car since yesterday. so can anyone tell me if this is a bearin or something else because i almost bought a set of omni valves lol thx for the help
Shifting at 7.5k? and 8k on 3rd?....
Dude you have a SOHC.... first of all they dont even make power up there
second they cannot handle that high rpm...
A spun bearing sounds like a whining noise thats spinning lol hard to explain

sounds like a bearing to me, i've had 2 friends spin a bearing. it makes a knocking noise, but could also be other things also, not just a bearing. but dont keep driving it
yea im not driving it. and if it is a spun bearing what will i have to do to fix it? i know i have to get the bearings. but say if i scorched the crank then what will i have to do to get that fixed? cause if so im finding lightened and balanced crankshafts for 400 dollars n i want to know if it would cost less to just repair the crankshaft or what.
Sounds like a spun bearing to me. I would take off the oil pan and visually check the motor internally. Chances are you'll have some metal shavings in the oil pan.

i think a new crank is a little extreme most reputable machine shops can turn the crank and you put oversize bearings on the journal that you had machined

yea it knocks now. im not driving it at all. i priced bearing and a crankshaft from topline or some company like that. they want $358 no core charge but thats not with shipping. ummm im looking at the shafts n they come with 10mm 12mm and 14mm flywheel bolts n i dont know which i would need.
first off.... take it to someone who knows how to do a teardown to find out what is actually wrong.. don't order a thing till you know for sure.. you will end up with 10 different people telling you its this or that and have a pile of parts that you didn't need to replace in the first place
don't order anything untill you have the problem pinpointed for sure

It's somewhat true. You will have to get it micropolished at least.
I would just get another d series for $200 and swap it in. Way cheaper and less headache. It's not worth rebuilding your engine it will cost you a pretty penny. Plus if you lost one bearing all the rest of your bearings went to **** with it. Believe me. Clearances in bearings create oil pressure and if one bearing goes bad you loose oil pressure which causes other bearings to go to ****. If you keep on driving you will punch a big hole in your block or just seize it up.
Time for a replacment.

yeah if you want to sell the car right away. Did you ever see a crank after bad bearing. It's pretty scratched up (scored) or totaly fucked from all the heat.
If you don't get it micropolished or replaced you will eat thru bearings like there is no tommorow.
