Default Interchangable seats and other parts.

What Honda OEM seats are interchangable and a direct swap with EFs?

What Honda OEM parts are interchangable and a direct swap with EFs?

ie. Can EG seats just be swapped into a '91 Civic HB?

It wasn't mentioned in that thread, but EF8 seats will bolt directly to 88 CRX's. I can't speak for 89's b/c i'm not 100% but i'm darn near positive they will. EF8 seats will NOT directly bolt to 90-91 without changing the seat pan.

ALSO, if you happen to get JDM EF8 seats, i highly suggest you simply swap the seat rails if you have an 88 b/c the USDM seat rails will allow for more leg room. The JDM rails will not extend as far back b/c in japan there is acutally a rear seat in which they allow for a little room so you don't crush the little kiddies legs behind you.

EE8 seats should have the same dimensions as EF8 seats, and I'm not sure about EF9 seats but they may be the same as EF8 seats also. That's just a guess though

i can vouch for EF7 and EF8 seats NOT bolting in directly to 90-91 USDM CRXs, i have a set of EF7 seats, and my boyfriend has a set of EF8 seats. we both have 91 Si CRXs, and though he hasn't done his yet, we swapped pans and rails from my stock seats onto the JDM seats to get them to bolt in. it took a little persuading and we had to trim some of the foam on the seat bottom (you can't see it once its all installed) but we made it work and it looks fine, bolts in perfectly.

as for 89's.. this is what i know: 89 HFs still had pillar mount seatbelts like all 88's (i am guessing because they are lighter than the door-mount seat belts that all 90-91's got, and the base and Si models of the 89's got). so they MIGHT have the same rails as the 88s because of the seatbelts. in the 88s, the seatbelt clicker was separate from the seat pan. also, i have a set of 89 Si seats, and they bolt right in to my 91 Si no problem. not sure about the HF, if they got a different floor pan just because of the pillar seatbelts or what, but the 89 Si seats have the same pans and rails as the 90-91s.

as for swapping any OEM honda seats into any other honda, its ALMOST ALWAYS going to require swapping pans and rails, and you might have to do some extra work to make the pans fit like i did with my JDM seats.

hope that helps!

I can also vouch that the driver side seat on the EF9 seats doesnt line up to 1 mounting point on the 88-89. Only 3 of the 4 mounting locations line up, the passenger side bolts in fine.

Thanks for the info so far, guys. But I was more referring to the interchangable between different years and what it takes to make them fit.

ie. EG seats in an EF
S2K seats in an EF
EK seats in an EF

just swap the pans & rails and it will work. but i don't know of any that will swap directly without swapping pans/rails that are from different models like you are asking. i've seen all of the ones you suggested done before, and swapping pans/rails is probably the easiest way to do it, though there are probably other ways.

you can make any seat fit any car..so long as its relative in size. all you need to do is fabricate rails

Thanks, I guess my best bet is to get some stock '90-'91 Si seats. Anyone have a pair for sale?

since this is about interchangable parts.. I have a question.

I have an 89 crx (dr mounted belts) with rotted doors (holes in em) and I got some 88 si doors cheap, the same color as my car. (pillar mounted belts)

Will my 89 seatbelts/door panels swap into the 88 doors? Can I get some pillar mounted belts easy/cheap? (JYs around here are ******* expensive) I'd rather have pillar mounted belts but I dun feel like spending the $ on that right now. Plus the si door panels are nicer since they don't have the holes in them from the seatbelts and they say crx on the panel.

i am doing a seatbelt conversion on my CRX (door mount to pillar mount). the short answer is you can do it but its a pain.

i got my pillar belts from a guy in the UK (used, but working) they are VERY expensive to get new and hard to find used here in the US.

i have pics on my website of the progress so far (link in sig). the good news: most of the holes are already there, or marked in the plastic trim pieces. the bad news: one hole is not there, and there are brake lines and other wires going over where the hole would be. (the lower mount hole on the driver's side) SO... the easiest thing for you to do would be to get door-mount seatbelt doors and paint them instead of going through the whole conversion like i am. or you could always get harnesses, but i wanted mine to look stock.

I know the thread from T-Mo didn't really say much about it, but can the 92-95 civic seats be swapped by the seat pans into 90-91 civic seat pans correctly? Cause I tried with CRX seats and it was a no go at all. The foam didn't even fit in the pans themselves correctly. I was just wondering if anyone has ever done it before cause the Vinyl is hurtin my ***.

so do you think it would be ok for me to just get like a c-pillar suspension bar and just mount some harnesses to that ?
