I've also been thinking about an IS 300... But for one thing, you can get the pager function for your alarm.... I'm getting one asap.

I think I would rather have an ugly Subaru WRX. Maybe no one would **** with that ugly POS looking car. It's still quick, turbo, awd. hmm...

i was under the impression that insurance for any lexus is not cheap either, although it won't be as expensive as the type R for sure

If the handling of the IS300 is anywhere near the 2.0 Altezza handling, it isn't nearly as good as a 98 spec jdm ITR on the track. I have a Best Motoring video that shows the Altezza placing last; when raced against an S2K, new ITR, 98 Spec ITR + more.

EDIT: All cars in the video were driven by Japanese Professional race car drivers btw.

I would have to second the WRX over an IS300. Way more car for less money. They are friggin' beasts out of the hole!

Can't driver play a big roll in this?

Anyways thats just from what i read in the SCC magazine. I don't know much about that car or how it puts up with others. So you're probably right.

I believe an IS300 came in second place in SCCA Solo II Nationals. Forgot what class but I was shocked.....and it was an automatic.

Personally, it would be a toss-up between a 99 Mustang Cobra or a new 5 speed IS300. Of course the IS300 is much nicer but the 99 Cobra is cheap and fun

Altezza's absolute overrated pieces of CRAPPOLLA...look at my sig! I have raced tons of Altzies and have not lost once or have even come close to losing to thos ****-mobiles... Do yourself a favor...if you gotta sell the R, at least get something better like an Evo VIII which should be headin' your way...after driving an R, you will definately be disappointed in the Altzie or IS300...trust me!!

I would maybe look at an RSX-S, or at the very least a WRX... Both have a stick, although I think the IS300 might have one for 02. But no matter what you get, you'll be sacrificing. With the IS, you lose speed, with the RSX/WRX, you lose cornering. At the verry least with the cobra, you get a car that handles and hauls *** for sure. But now I'm just playing the Devil's Advocate, because I wouldn't go American....

I think everyone is forgetting that the IS300 has a different purpose than the Type R. I myself would love to get an IS300 if it weren't for those ugly tail lights.

The is300 is nice and slow but looks better and can carry more people, I would go for the WRX if I were to start over, but if the lancer EVO is coming I will definitely like to get it, for under 30,000, you will beat cars like the 911, s4 etc. its light with huge brakes and plenty of power! I once saw a british ad for the old one that said 0-100-0(km) in 6.9 seconds!!!!!!

As to our cars being stolen, do what I do, constantly break your car so you never actually drive it, when you get it fixed put it away for the winter, I've had mine for about 20 months and only have 10,950 miles on it!

I drove th IS300 yesterday and was kinda disapppointed the power band is like driving an ls integra. Basically its strong at first but power falls off in higher rpm. So for you coming out of an R might be disappointed that you might spend an extra 15k for a slower less peforming car
PS It did have nice brakes

I thought that the little chip in the key was effective...
How the hell they stole it ?

If they use a breakdown lorry or a thing like that : nothing to do...

You've obviously never gotten an Audi serviced! It's a nightmare, Lexus is leaps and bounds better and well worth giving up any of the little advantages the Audi may have.

Id buy an Audi A4 before I'd buy an IS300
