Default Turbo Manifold Materials and Size

Well I am looking to make my own manifold now cause all the f22 manifolds out there suck. So I ran a search and I found one of my answers but not to all of them. I know I should use sa40 stainless steel but what should be the diameter of the tubing? I don't know that. Also where can I find a F22b flange and a small collector with a t3 flange for the manifold. I am thinking about cutting and marking up everything then taking it to a muffler shop and have them weld it. Also I would need a 38mm tial flange.
Here are some pics of a guy (fknslmd) from accordinglydone.com that made his own f22b manifold. I want mine to somewhat look like this. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

the mcmaster.com part number for the stainless elbows is 45605k515. your going to need 15 of em to build the manfiold i did in the pics. i got the collector precut from legendboy on here, dont bother trying to cut one yourself just get it from him!
and be prepared to spend lots of time tinkering with that thing to get it to all fit together. if you want different angle pics of mine let me know.

damn brian, i wish i knew you had that head flange in stainless, i ended up using mild steel with everything else 304.

Sure any pics would help. Also why would I need 15 of them. Isn't that a lot. I was wondering if you could get all the parts for me and cut them to your specs and I'll pay for the parts and your time. If not, it's cool. What did you do about the wastegate tube and flange. Also how much do you guys think it'll cost to weld if everything is lined up?

Also how much did all the parts set you back including everything needed for the setup except the welding.

I have two questions ? First off from the pics those are some sweet eye candy good fab. but, In the pics you have then installed are they welded or just tacked to see how it would look and fitt. Secondly ........ have you tried them yet. They look close to the hood will the heat effect the outer hood paint?

my bad i used 14 of the elbows, i bought an extra one in case i messed up on a cut. heres a breakdown of the material costs
head flange- mild steel $60
stainless elbows- $90
precut stainless collector-$65
stainless t3 flange-$25
stainless wastegate flange-$25
im sure you could find better prices on the flanges but i'm not a bargain shopper so i didnt look around.

like i said on AD, i may do a few more of these but not until mine has been tested by me. i wont take the chance of selling some piece of **** i made to somebody else. i wont be using mine for a few months due to having my motor built and winters here anyways. as for selling the pieces precut, you only really need to cut the bottom pieces for the 2/3 runners. other than that the elbows pretty much fit the way they are. ill try to get some finished pics up here pretty soon with it all welded.
civicbynature, yeah in the pics if was just tacked together to check for clearance issues. in the pictures it does look like it sits high but it really doesnt. i checked hood clearance and it was fine.

ok so even if it clears the hood and it does shut and everything does the heat radiating from it effect the the hood or the paint like discoloring or warpage weather it has a factory hood or aftermarket..

i'm not sure how much someone would charge to weld something like that but i'm guessing around a hundred bucks or so.
i didnt have any hood clearance problems with mine, the highest part of the manifold was about even with the valve cover. since the motor leans back a little bit i had to make the 2/3 runners a little lower as you can see in the pic. i have a cf hood too with a plastic underside so we'll see what happens when i eventually get it together.

if you go 2 a "muffler" shop, they are probly going to pull out the ole MIG welder and go 2 town...if you going 2 pay for something, at least have someone decent 2 TIG it. In my experience, welding was not something you need 2 know how to do to work at a muffler shop...you just kind of learn how 2 work it, most guys arent trained at all.

TIG welding that stuff up is pretty time consuming. it has to all be cleaned and de greased. Then you have to clamp it to make sure it doesn't warp. I would say a person would have 3-4 hrs welding something like that up. If it gets too hot it will warp all over the place so you have to give it time to cool. I would expect to pay atleast 200 for a professional tig weld in stainless. $70 per hour is pretty common for that type of work.
