Default Stronger Oil Pump Gear - Is it Needed?

I'll be running a sleeved b16 @ 84mm, ACT 8.8lb flywheel, and stock crank pulley. Turbo with gsr valvetrain, so i'll only be revving to right around 8k. Is it necessary or a good idea to go with an aftermarket oil pump gear. The Toda one is like $300. And i'm having some trouble locating a ProDrive gear. Any opinions would be helpful. Thanks.

that accusump is a nice unit no doubt, but i'm not worried about starving the system of oil, i'm worried about 0 oil presure due to a shattered oil pump gear.

I found a prodrive gear for $239.00 shipped on eBay. Anyone know where I can find one any cheaper?

Its not that neccessary, BUT.. if you have a oil cooler.. get it.. droping oil pressure is not good.

I always thought that the shattering of oil pump gears was due to RPM
and not HP just that the pump cavitates at high RPM and causes the gear
to break being that a G-Rotor pump isnt made for that kind of RPM ( 9k + )

I could be wrong but thats what I thought damages them.

yes, i've heard that too.
I'll only be revving to like 8 maybe 8.2k so i'm sure i'll be fine because i'll be running an ITR oil pump.

All VTEC B-Series pumps are the same Actually I think all B-Series are the
same supposely the Type R runs a little more pressure due to a diff spring
anyone care to comment on this?

Most late model B series oil pumps are the same (ie they have the same gear) but I'm not positive about their spring pressure rates. We always use the ProDrive/Circuitwork oil pump gear on our high reving turbo motors and have never had a problem. What dampener are you running?

Yea the fluidamper is a nice piece if you wanna spend the money but we've never had a problem with stock even up at 10k rpm and 700whp+. You should be just fine tho especially with an aftermarket gear.
