Alright... heres my dilema (sp?). I have a 97 CX with the D16y7 and a cracked exhaust manifold. Well because of its crappy design, I cant just go with an aftermarket header because my cat would have to be replaced an the O2 sensor would have to be moved an etc. Way to much work for what im trying to accomplish, all I want is to get rid of the CEL.

So I started thinking, I have a header from a D15b7, bolts right up, everything should be ok right? Wrong, thanks to Honda Tech I find out that I have an OBD2 car which has TWO O2 sensors, and even if I weld in a second one, my CEL would remain shining because the second one comes after the cat, and if I was to place another O2 sensor in the D15 header, it wouldnt be after a cat so it would get messed up readings.

So I accepted defeat an tried to move on with my life, hey the orange light isnt that bad at night time ...

But then I get this idea, I also have an ECU from a D15b7, which is OBD1. OBD1 Only requires one O2 sensor, so technically with a skunk 2 OBD2 to OBD1 wire harness, the D15 ecu, and the D15 header, my car would throw no codes? Would this work? If so, would my car run crappier or would I notice the difference?

It will work. No codes. You motor maybe feel different, but nothing to bad.

Go with something other then shunk2 harness. A few people make conversion harness (not me, I do actually engine, cabin, etc harnesses, not ECU). They are better, a lot less headaches.

 

yes it will work with a harness. But emissions may not work, depending on your state.

you would have to change your iac valve from 3 wire to 2 wire. or just go to a dealership and get your manifold replaced for free . it should have an extended warranty
