This may sound like a dumb question but, I was wondering how some of you manage to run the 9005 high beams whenever you want rather then using the high beams with the 9006's. Any info would help alot I would lvoe this mod on my gsr

it's a Canadian car, which has daytime running lamps (required on all Canadian vehicles), which runs the high beam headlights at reduced voltage whenever the car is on, and I believe when the parking brake is released.

I have seen these on US models though so thee has to be a way to run them to a switch or something? I was just curious as to how it was done I thought it looks sweet on alot of cars.

What you saw was either a Canadian-spec car (sometimes people in the Northern US have them), or it just had an aftermarket DRL circuit. They're easy to find and fairly inexpensive.

I would run the 9005 in place of the 9006. Read up. There's plenty.

What hes trying to do is wire DRL in place of his high beams, Im assuming...nothing to do with the 9005 conversion.

I actually wouldnt mind doing this either....how would one do this?

Um just buy an aftermarket DRL kit, I think it's pretty much a relay or relays and some other wiring stuff.

The way I want to do it is to put HIDS in the low beams then disconnect the high beams to run them to a switch with the gold bulbs
again, heres the link of what I want https://honda-tech.com/gara...=2998

Please don't put HIDs in the halogen projectors. Do it right and retrofit HID projectors into the factory housings.

If you are going to add DRL with the high beams, they are not at full brightness. Please get a proper DRL kit, so you don't blind people. You can connect the kit to a switch instead of the ignition so they are on when you want them. Also, do not run DRL at night, they still point up and will blind people, even at lower power levels.

Why would you want to disconnect the high beams? Just get a proper DRL kit to do it right and get the look you want and still have high beam functionality.

And don't think for a second that you don't need high beams with HID. WRONG! For one thing, HID in the stock projectors will not put out the light very far. Even with OEM HID projectors, if the cutoff is properly aimed so as to not blind other drivers, it won't put out enough light to see on those dark back roads and stuff. The fact that the cutoff is sharp only accentuates the contrast, making the dark unlit area seem even darker in comparison to the lit area. So you still need your high beams to light up those areas the low beam projectors can't reach, provided of course that other cars aren't coming towards you.

I dunno, JCWhitney, maybe summit racing, it's just wiring up a couple things and I'm sure it would come with instructions.
