b18c5
b18b

what would be the best choice for my CRX?
also, cost/power-wise. what is the more affordable power-house?

i would just go with the b16,thats what i have and its quick.if you spend the extra money for a gsr motor you really are not getting much more for what its worth.you could spend the extra $1500 on better mods that would make your car faster than any stock gsr motor.

i'd rather have the b18b than the b16. and it will be much cheaper.

ya, but 1,500 on a gsr would be just that much faster than a b16a. I say do what u can afford.

not sure how any one here can evern answer your question since u didnt even mention what the hell you plan on doing with your crx. do u just want soemthing quick for around town, do you plan to boost, do you want more top end speed, do you want vtec. You might as well have asked which color should i like best?

True..10-20 more real factory hp is great...but there is a serious price gap(2G's is alot for most people)...so i think b16 is the best $ per hp swap and its a great starting point for mods...just my 2cents

i'd look into the f20. It's cost efficient, reliable, and most importantly...has Honda's new VVTL-I system (think VTEC, only 10 times better and louder).

Oh wait a second, I just smoked a spaghetti pot full of meth....

This is information you need to add before asking about a motor.

1. What is your budget?
2. What is the purpose of the car?
3. What kind of mechanical knowledge do you have? If none, factor labor charges into your budget.

Get back to us with more specific information and about 3/4 of these guys will lay off and give you a decent answer.

What your plans for the rex?[/qoute]

This is off the top of my head so....if it's a little off i apologize
b16a 160 hp 110 torque $1500
b18c1 170/126 $2800
b18c5 200/134 $4000
b18b 140/? $500
Any of the above is better than a d15b2.

Here's what i did. $2500 for b16 swap installed. Been driving it for a year now. Picked up b18c block for $500. Now i just need to save $5000 to finish it. How much do you want to spend?

i have a b16 in my crx and im very happy with it. the swap is the best bang for your buck. i got my sawp from Hmotorsonline.com for 2300 to the door. it came with the full b16 sawp, hasport mounts, hasport shift linkage and it came with the vtec subharnness so the ecu turns vtec on and there is no switches to be flipping. the swap has been in my car for 11 months and no problems what so ever. i honestly think that b16s are the perfect match for crx's.

Go B16, run it, enjoy it and maybe later swap in an LS or B20 block. It's easier and cheaper to build an LS/VTEC if you already have a B16. The added torque of the 1.8 is nice...no doubt but in a light car the B16 moves it along just fine.

Can't the same be said about a B16 also? You'll just need a B18 block.

Either way, a B16 or B18b can be turned into a ls/vtec.

BTW...I vote for B16b

you guys are just a bunch of fanboys trying to be cheerleaders for what ever engine you have. why dont u state what purpose you have for your car, because this is just a popularity contest, simple as that.

I said i've had both and still prefer the b18b. around town the b18b is way nicer, torque is pretty much always there. Don't have to wait til 6000 for the car to pull. To me the vtec on a b16 is like really bad turbo lag. And its slower than a d16a6 until it hits vtec.

And if you are really wanting to go fast you could use the extra $1000 you saved getting the b18b and put it towards a turbo setup.

id go with b16, for money and power, in the light chassis, the lack of torque isnt that much of a handicap
