Default Help with my buddy's Civic!

*sigh* I was driving my dad's car tonight cause the GTI was locked up due to halloween. I pulled in in front of my buddy in his Civic (I think it's an 03) and he was moving ahead when I was pulling in and BAM. I ripped his bumper off. We were both not really that careful there, you can say. Call me an idiot alll you want. The thing is it's a cheap flimsy piece of plastic, eitherwise it wouldn't have come off so easily. I barey tapped his car. The way i worded it is weird, and it was probably 50/50 but I have been raised right and will claim full responsibility. I don't want to go through my insurance so I will pay cash that I have saved up for new rims ( ) and was wondering how much you think one of those new plastic bumpers, plus to get the scratches off his front fender will be? Thanks a million!

Just a bumper cover and some scratches? If you actually tore the bumper cover, then it's going to cost you a bumper cover + paint and possibly paint for the fender if it can't be buffed out. If you didn't rip the bumper cover, you can just remount it.

Thanks! How much is a new bumper cover? I've been told so many different things my head is spinning so I'm going to ask a Honda guy here!

What body style is it?

From http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

The 2 door front bumper is 182.15
The 4 door front bumper is 158.66
And the 3 door bumper is 158.66

You can probally get one cheaper on Ebay though. So thats about 150-190 dollars + paint.

Thanks a million for your help! I think it's an 01, not 100% sure. I alwyas thought the 01 went to 03, like a three year run. Does anybody know if the bumper cover has anything in it? I.E lights or anything? I think this is the base model civic. Some people on a domestic forum said around 1800 to fix it. I sure hope they're wrong.
EDIT: it's a 4-door.

No way. I'd say TOPS to get the new bumper cover (if you didn't damage the bumper support or anything) and to get both it and the fender painted would be somewhere around 300-400 dollars.

Thanks. I don't think I damaged much. I just scraped him on the side fender when I was pulling in nose first, and knocked his bumper off. At first I thought it was so bad then I realized it was held on by two plastic things in the fender. We had a few very nice guys helping out, and we could almost get it to fit on just a bunch of amateurs. So the car still drives fine just needs new bumper cover and fender probably repainted. Man, I owe you one!
