I thought BB4 was the JDM 4th Gen Prelude.

In the States, I KNOW the VTEC 4th Gen Prelude is named BB1, and the 4th Gen Si is named BB2. I forgot already what the 4th Gen S is called. It's not BB3...or BB at all.

BB6 is what the 5th Gen is named.

Regular 4th Gen??? Trust me...a 4th Gen Si is a BB2. I know that for a fact. BB1 is DEFINITELY a 4th Gen VTEC.

Just not sure about BB4 the Prelude S.

You're right, and I'm almost positive that the s model does NOT
start with BB. I'll have to look into it.

Edited: the s-model is BA not BB

Many people refer to their cars by its chassis type... like in Initial D! Here's the full breakdown on the different USDM and JDM chassis types... I'm surprised that I actually know this stuff... haha!

Fourth Gen:
USDM
1.) BA8 (92-96 Prelude S - 2.2L SOHC: F22A1)
2.) BB1 (93-96 Prelude VTEC - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A1)
3.) BB2 (92-96 Prelude Si - 2.3L DOHC: H23A1)
4.) BB2 (92-96 Prelude Si 4WS - 2.3L DOHC: H23A1 w/ 4 Wheel Steering)
5.) BB2 (1995 Prelude SE - 2.3L DOHC: H23A2)
JDM
1.) BA8 (91-95 Prelude Si - 2.2L DOHC: F22B)
2.) BA9 (91-95 Prelude Si 4WS - 2.2L DOHC: F22B w/ 4 Wheel Steering)
3.) BB1 (91-95 Prelude Si VTEC 4WS - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A1 w/ 4 Wheel Steering)
4.) BB4 (91-95 Prelude Si VTEC - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A1)

Fifth Gen:
USDM
1.) BB6 (97-01 Prelude S - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A4)
2.) BB6 (97-01 Prelude SH - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A7 w/ ATTS)
JDM
1.) BB5 (96-01 Prelude Xi - 2.2L SOHC: F22B2)
2.) BB5 (96-01 Prelude Si - 2.2L DOHC: F22B)
3.) BB6 (96-01 Prelude SIR - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A4?)
4.) BB6 (96-01 Prelude Type S - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A4?)
5.) BB7 (96-01 Prelude Si 4WS - 2.2L DOHC: F22B w/ 4 Wheel Steering)
6.) BB8 (96-01 Prelude SIR 4WS - 2.2L DOHC VTEC: H22A4? w/ 4 Wheel Steering)

I'm sure that all the 4th Gen. info is correct... Afterall, I'm a 4th Gen enthusiats! But I love all Preludes... My 5th Gen. USDM info is also accurate, along with most of the JDM... It couldn't hurt to double check the engine codes for the BB6 SIR, BB8 SIR 4WS, and the BB6 Type S? And I'm not sure if the ATTS system was even introduced in Japan? Otherwise... I'm positive that the rest of this information is solid! I hope I was able to help you out...

JDM Type-S does have ATTS...that's where the ATTS badges come from. I know one goes in the front grill, and I thought there was one on the rear glass (?). Also, I believe the JDM H22s are just H22A.

many people refer to the ludes by chassis type and engine type.

However according to repair manual documentation there are 4 types. Two of these types are KQ, and KY... i will look thorugh manual later on and let you know.
