Default syncromesh for your tranny

at first i was alittle skeptical, but i just drained the trans fluid and poured it in, and after 50 miles it had ALREADY took the grind out of my 3rd gear, not completely though, but it doesnt grind like it did. my tranny has 209xxx miles on it, i hear after 500 miles you can really start to feel a difference. anyways, just letting you all know

its about $12 a qt, and you can get it at any GM dealer

It works wonders, my friend used some in his tranny that I used to own, the grind was pretty bad but it went away completely after a few days.

yea i had some weird things happen with synchromesh... Went to the track beat on my car, aquired a grind at high rpm's into 3rd. Went to the track a week later beat on my car, the grind somehow was gone by the end of the day. I was like wtf is going on. I guess the stuff works like magic or i am on my way to blowing my 2nd tranny.

my question is, why does it work so good? is it bad for the long run, like does it weaken the sncyros or something?

do you HAVE to do a fluid drain before putting it in??

You don't want to much oil in the transmission so yes you should drain it.

I would, or else you'd have no room for it right?? But seriously yes. drain all the old oil out of the tranny and refill with syncromesh. There are 2 types. one with friction modifier and one without. I used mix of both and no problems with my YS1 cable tranny.

It works because it is a thicker oil then 5w-30 and the regular honda transmission fluid.

Well anyways its thicker and the gears like thicker.

Only downside to it is, it is too big to get into the small cavitys of the transmission
(im not 100% sure, but this is rumored)

I was told to use 10w30 mobile 1 by someone who has run 8's in a honda. Something about the fluid needs to be thin in order to flow to every orifice of the trans, gear oil is too thick. but was thinking about trying the gm stuff soon.

btw what about the Lucas oil stabilizer with mobile 1??anyone try that??

I hear a lot of good things about the GM synchromesh fluid. You do not want to go to thick on fluid. Honda transmissions do not like thick!!

I'm confused, from what I have read penzoil Syncromesh is only for use in GM or chrysler trannys. You guys are using it in your EFs and its working fine?

I put it in my tranny quite a while ago when it was grinding. The grinding stopped for about 6 months... But full throttle shifts have taken thier toll and I believe that the sync. mesh has done all it can do for my poor tranny. Hey, it saved me from buyin a new tranny for a while...

where can you buy GM syncromesh (or something that has the same effect) at, other than the GM dealer? i say this because where i live there are no GM dealers for a while so i need to buy it elsewhere...
