Auto D16Y8 intake manifold onto D16Z6 ?'s
I found this Y8 intake manifold on ebay for $30 Buy-it-Now so I jumped on it, cuz they usually go for a lot more. It was so cheap that I just couldn't pass it up.
I cleaned it up a little bit, and pulled off the throttle body, brackets, and hoses.
Then I painted it gloss black with some hi-temp paint. The hi-temp paint probably isn't necessary, but I figured it couldn't hurt.
Look at this idiot posing with an intake manifold! Oh, wait... that's me.
I just ordered some red wrinkle paint from Summit. I couldn't find that stuff anywhere locally. I'm gonna use it to paint the valve cover. I'm trying to maintain the red/black scheme throughout the whole car. I just need some red silicone couplers for the CAI.
Anyway, here's my problem: After a little bit more research, I realized that the manifold that I bought was from an automatic. As I'm sure some of you know, this means that the IACV is located on the throttle body, as opposed to the manifold itself, like one from a manual.
So, what I'm wondering is this; should I drill and tap the Y8 manifold, use the Z6 IACV and throttle body, OR should I not bother with the drilling and use the Y8 throttle body/IACV? Does anyone know if the Y8 IACV produces the same voltage as the Z6 IACV?
PS - I've searched and searched but I couldn't find anything on what to do if you've got an auto manifold.

Was it very hard? Do I have to use a press, or is there any way that I could do it with a regular drill?

Re: (brentmc79)
#1. The IACV that would be mounted on your 5spd Y8 manifold is of the 2-wire variety. Can you use your Z6 IACV - I dunno.
#2. The IACV that is mounted on throttle bodies are of the 3-wire variety.
#3. ECUs that control a 3-wire IACV will NEVER control a 2-wire IACV, and vice-versa.
So basically, if you are using an ECU that was controlling a 2-wire IACV then I'd make sure that can drill and tap the auto manifold, fit a 2-wire IACV on there and things should be kosher.

Na, i gave up on using a automatic IM because it was alot different. but i got a 5spd intake mani from a Y8 and everything was good even the IACV is the same as ours just plug and play. the only thing it doesn't have is a Air Temp Sensor But we really don't need that.
