Default product review: SKUNK2 PRO 1 H22 cams dyno inside

SKUNK2 PRO 1s vs STOCK CAMS

motor setup:

STOCK BLOCK JDM H22A
SKUNK2 Pro 1 cams
SKUNK2 Pro series valvetrain
SKUNK2 Pro series camgears
Euro r intake manifold
SKUNK2 68mm TB
Import Sports custom 3.5" CAI
RC 550 saturated injectors
STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLD

Over the years I have tested ALOT of H series camshafts and I can honestly say these are by far the best cams I have ever run on a stock bottom end H22. Normally when i find a cam that makes decent peak power it comes w/ a trade off in midrange loss. However these cams make HP and TQ gains across the board which is awesome

the peak numbers were 230 and 170 from the SKUNK2 Pro 1s vs 220 and 167 from stock cams, BUT the SKUNK2 cams gained power and tq everywhere across the board

x2

they would be just JUNs since they only make one profile for the h22

Wow those are huge numbers for a stock motor. Hmmmm
I'm going to get flamed for saying this but...... Generous Dyno????
I apologize in advance to anyone if I offend you. What does a stock
JDM H22 put down stock to the crank again????? 190???
Maybe it's because I've been on the stingiest of dyno's and I'm jaded.
I apologize again.

jun is one of the few h series cams i never got around to testing. it became very difficult to find them at the point in time i was looking to make the purchase so i never had the chance.

im not very familiar w/ the jun cams but i doubt they have the seamless vtec crossover like the skunk2 pro series cams or the broad tq curve. i have definately found my cams of choice from here on out

and next spring we are gonna shoot for 250 whp w/ an exhaust manifold and tb upgrade

Tempest Racing has been tunning my cars since 2001 and i can tell you their dynojet is right in line w/ many others and is very consistant. my track et backs up the numbers so imho the dyno is right on.

on a side note you also have to take into account the correction factor. all of my graphs are in STD. if iwe use SAE the numbers will be slightly lower and if we stay uncorrected the numbers jump up to around 235 whp and 175 wtq

some people like to see the lower numbers....some like to see the higher numbers.....i dont care what the numbers are give or take a few because a gain is a gain and its not the numbers im concerned w/ anyway

show me et rather than numbers any day

Jun cams aren't worth the money anymore considering the kind of the performance Skunk2 Pro cams offer, but Jun3's for the H22 are a midrange oriented cam. If you ever tested them, I'm sure you'd like them.

lets not turn this into a cam battle thread. i have never tested jun cams, but i did just post my findings of the skunk2 pro 1s so lets keep it on topic please.

if you guys want to discuss other camshafts do it in your own thread after spending your own time and money to test them, thank you

nirvtec, you seem very certain that my numbers are false. what im wondering is if you would be willing to put your money where your mouth is.

i will GLADLY travel to a dynojet of your choice within a reasonable distance from me to prove my numbers. all you have to do is pay for all traveling expenses, fuel, and dyno time

ive seen some of the dyno's that have came from tempest posted on here, and from the setups and #'s it seems to be on par. some motors just put up #'s like that. my friend went to inline pro and had his 00 spec itr swap tuned and it made 193 sae corrected. they couldnt understand why, cause all most all itr's make 170's-180's. i never tell anyone that story cause every one calls bs on it

Sure its not common for an h22 with this setup to make 230whp but his times back up his whp numbers.

H series with cams don't make 220-230whp....

Unrealistic callout from an East Coaster.....typical!!

no, theres nothing unrealistic about it, after thanksgiving i am off work until march w/ nothing to do so i have plenty of time on my hands. i would be more than willing to take a road trip at someone elses expense

im sorry you havent been able to accomplish what jake and i have w/ our setups, but its not polite to jump into someone elses thread and start hating, please do see your way out
