Oh crap, that really sucks!!! Gotta get my backissues ordered today of the one I'm in then.

Scott was an awesome Editor and was a big help along the way with my article. Hopefully he gets scooped up into another publication.

scott is one of the best editors i have ever worked with. lucky for me, i got to go kinda out of the country with him, hes a great guy to hang with also.

im sure scott will see another good magazine of print soon.

wow! I couldn't wait each month for the new issue to drop in the 90's.

 

Braubus SLK in 97 or 98 was my fav issue of turbo in the late 90s by far

 

Wow I still have two boxs full of the old ones!!! Maybe they will be worth some money lol.

 

This really sucks, I only got to work with Scott for a short time, but he was awesome.

really? Turbo was the thinnest magazine of the Primedia lineup, and circulation has dropped to almost nothing. 19k per month... that's 1/3 of what it was just 5 years ago.

 

Sad Day indeed, working with Scott was always a pleasure he always pushed me to provide tech heavy stuff, even when I didn;t think it was necessary, he wanted to give the readers the basics and then the over the top stuff.

Unfortunately that's not what sells issues of magazines. With the Internet being a readily abundant source of information without having to wait a month or pay a few bucks, magazines have had to revert to new tactics to sell magazines. Those tactics have really become what attracts the new 16 year old to the market. So few people support the magazines as they are fading away and with the way the economy is right now and how our industry is it doesn't help one bit.

It really sucks to see Turbo magazine go but at the same time it should help open up some eyes to the people that really want to support this industry and help it continuing in growing.

So true, I always try and keep everything I write to something you can;t genuinely find or learn on the internet, maybe if you asked enough of the right people you could learn the same things i'm writing but most of the info just isn't readily available

I agree, being an ex-editor myself, but the difficulty there is convincing a reader (or a general consumer) that the magazine is a credible source of information when they haven't been jaded or involved for many years.

A 16 year old getting into the industry is going to grab the magazine with the hot girl and bright green, widebody car on the cover. Not the full out drag car that they have no intentions of building anyways.

Just the way the market is, sad that some people refuse to acknowledge it and to change it for the better.

tell me bout it. the game isnt what it used to be, and thats how it wont last long. i would hate to see that be the end of things but it happens daily in this new age we are coming into.

its crappy, but i do agree with jason here. i go and sit at the local barnes once a week and look at mags. while im there, i look and see how picks up the mags and how they respond. when kids do, 9 out of 10 times they always do exactly what jason said.

 

im sorry to hear this, whenever I think of the old days when I really started getting into imports I always think of the old school TURBO mags I would buy. They would have domestics and a lot of turbo buicks in them and of course the occasional import. I think that was around 95 or so, lol 13yrs man!

I also really miss OverRev mag!

Oh yeah it's the sad truth, it;s just one less place for them to get relevant information when they are ready to learn though....

Maybe I was the smaller demographic...but when I was 16 and bought turbo magazine or any car mag I loved the drag cars and could care less about the show cars and the girls on the cover. But still to this day I would rather read about drag cars then show cars, guess "we" are thinning out Sad to see this mag go!

 

Damn that sucks, and I just renewed my subscription.
