I just wanted to see who is interested in a adapter plate for the k series or f20 to the 4t65e 3 speed trans. I talked to a couple people that are interested in this and I'm pretty sure if there were 10-15 people that wanted this in a civic then maybe it can be done like the h2b kits.
wait... are you saying mount a k series and f20 to a 3speed transmission?
if thats right that doesnt really sound like a good idea.... those are high reving engines.. they need MORE gears that are small.. because of their lack of torque..
Torque monster V8 engines are what u want on a 3gear transmission...
Am i missing something? im not really familliar with that transmission but just hearing it only has 3 gears tells me that they are probably big gears..

tell that to the hotrod gm cars then. cause they all use the 4t65e, or hydra-matic as people call it. there is a guy on here his name is covanant, he has already had an adapter plate made for the K to 4t65e. You could pm him if you're interested, and he might be able to help. when I was going to build my car into a hotrod/bracket car, I was looking into doing it.

did you just compare V8's to an F20C?

No he compared Ecotec (4 cylinder) to a K/F. Cant wait to see someone put together a honda hotrod with an auto!

but what is the benefit of this?
and how does putting an oversized transmission on a small high reving engine make it a hotrod?
im not trying ot be a jerk these are real questions

Hot-Rod is/was an nhra sport compact/nopi class for 1200+hp 4 cylinder cars where you are permitted to run an aftermarket trans. An automatic transmission can be a huge advantage in drag racing and GM makes a good auto while honda does not. Benefits to a hydramatic over a 5 speed honda trans= reliability, consistancy, hold power between shifts without shocking drivetrain.

i agree with you Ben. I've talked to a couple of people that are interested in this and I was thinking if enough people wanted then maybe they could come out with a kit like the h2b one. Plus think about if they let this in sfwd if there is somewhere to race.

The built version from GM Racing is a 3 speed.

That is true.. You will also have to re think the oil system and pan.

the K and the F would both sit similair in the chassis. I can tell you that your not going to get a 4t65e to sit in any stock engine back correctly. honda's were not designed with this tranny in mind. you can do it, but I wouldn't think about trying to build a street car with this tranny.

Did not know that. I figured it would be a "3t65e," if that was the case, going by current. GM transmission nomenclature.

PM user Covenant, like G2K said. He has the trans mounted up to a K-series for a Hot Rod class car he is building. Here's a link to the thread he made.

I think Earl or one of his clients was working on a fwd F20c setup that used a gm transmission a while back.
He even posted a photo and said that they were expecting four digit hp numbers.
I searched for the post but could not find it.
