Seems like a nice piece for under $400, just haven't read much "real world" experiences with them.
If you have one, used one or tuned one, post up!

From what I have read this system is really only designed for boosted apps which need to retard timing under load. This system lacks the ability to advance timing iirc

I've read no evidence that it can only retard timing. That would be a waste.
I'll be running it on my S2000.
check out AEM's forum for pretty good info on the unit. Sounds like it has the capability to expand and do some neat stuff.

If you are boosting your S2000 I would suggest coughing up the doe for the AEM plug-n-play EMS or the KPRO with the S2K kit. You will be much better of with either one of those.
I agree, Hondata K-Pro or AEM ems.
A lot of our customer's go with the K-pro system because they can actually find some one who knows how to tune K-pro much easier then AEM ems in their area.

why? Either of those are overkill for a basic forced induction setup, and cost 4x as much.

are you serious? BTW the aem FIC cant advance timing. At least it couldn't a couple of months ago when I was helping a friend of mine tune a newer Eclipse with it. I believe they said it would be able to soon though.

Yea but it's a pretty pricey and involved process to run one of those.
Probly just going to run an AEM EMS but wanted to look into this FIC first. For the price it just seems too hard to beat.

We installed 2 of them not to long ago. One was a supercharged Si and the other one was a 240sx. The software was kinda eh, it worked though. Overall for like $350 or so is what there selling for it beats the heck out of a apexi afc. Id go kpro though if the budget can afford it. You can do so much with kpro. Aem ems is good too, but its pricey and depending on the area trying to find a tuner can be a pita.
The FIC is a piggyback, duh. For someone who is more interested in having a turbo car than going fast, it's a great tool. Tuning one is *very* different than tuning a standalone. It's more of a tightrope walk. It's more important to fool the stock computer into thinking nothing is going on than anything else. I still hate piggybacks, but the FIC is by far the most capable unit I've ever seen.
im in the middle of an all motor build on my f23 for my 98 accord and now its time to pick a piggyback system and i was thinking AEM FIC but the more i read up on it the more it seems like its just for boosted cars, anyone have any input on using it for a NA build?
For a boosted app the FIC is the way to go if budget constraints are there. One suggestion I would have though for the FIC. Wire in the FIC before putting the turbo on the car. Drive the car around with the FIC logging all the stock positions of the map. So you can figure out where exactly you need to put your clamps on sensors. Than start tuning later on the turbo kit. Having a baseline to clamp the sensors will make tuning the car way easier so the computer thinks everything is fat, dumb and happy and wont try to make adjustments.
And yes the FIC was designed for boosted applications. You can +/-100% on fuel, but you can only retard timing. This was done this way to not trigger check engine lights in newer cars where the stock computers look for things like misfire detection which can happen when delaying signals like some piggy back systems.

but thats not the answer to my question...... i wanted to know if i could use it for a all motor build, i have been told by some people that i can but i figured id check befor i drop 450 on it
