Default Low Idle Issue

My del sol has a d16 and im having some issues. If i am turning it on and off repeatedly like when running errands it will eventually crank then die. It starts normally then the rpms drop and just stalls. If i sit with the car off for about 10 minutes it will usually start back up. When it DOES start i am still getting a really low idle after driving a few miles. It idles at much less the 500 rpm. Yesterday i was sitting in a parking lot with the car on about to go into work and it starts idling lower and lower then the CEL lights up and dies a few seconds after. Once i got out of work it cranked right up and no CEL... i dont know what to do! any suggestions????

Check the code the ECU threw. Just because the light isn't on doesn't mean it isn't stored in the ECU. Get the code and report back so we can help you better.

long flashes = 10 short = 1

your code is 30

Has anything been done to the motor? You could raise your idle on the throttle body by turning the screw counter clockwise, clockwise will lower it.

I would check your air filter too, it could be real dirty causing it to die.

You Might Want To Check Your Spark Plugs/ n Wires. Also You Might Want To Check Your IACV, Which Could Be Dirty And Might Need A Cleaning. Have You Changed Your Fuel Filter Lately.

You can't miss the idle screw, It's on the same side of the opening on the throttle body. There's a small flathead screw and it's a little recessed.

What year is your car? I don't believe you should be running a P28 unless you are boosting (turbo, supercharger) or trying to really tune a built motor. Try borrowing an ECU that goes to your car and plug it in. Which D16 do you have D16y8 or D16y7? I have both of those ECU's for sale by the way if you need them.

And like JDMPHILEP91 says you should clean and inspect your IACV which controls the idle. Sometimes I've heard that people cross the connectors of the IACV and the Map sensor which causes problems like you have. Both sensors are on the throttle body and have the same connector. Maybe try switching them.

Good Luck Dood

I just found info on your code. I googled it ha ha

Here...

Code 13
Accord Civic CRV CRX Del Sol Odyssey Prelude
85-98 86-98 97-98 85-91 93-97 95-98 85-98 BARO Sensor (Atmospheric Pressure)

defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor

I bet that's your problem.

Get a manual or search for the sensor location and plug it in dood or replace it.

Peace out!!

Did you try resetting the ECU by removing the under-hood BACKUP fuse for 30 seconds and then reinserting it? Afterwards, run the car to see if the problem recurs.

even if the CEL goes away after resetting the ECU my car is still having problems with the idle and turning on...
and i just checked the ECU list and the P28 is in the 92-95 civic si's and ex's. so im sure my 94 civic del sol uses the same ECU. and its a D16z6 i beleive
