wut is a (dual butterfly hookup) mean
on a gsr intake manifold, there are 2 sets of intake runners - long tube and short tube. One set of runners (I believe the short tube) are have a set of butterflies that default to open if they have no vacuum.
Once the car is started and vacuum is applied, they close, and the engine uses the long tube runners for low end torque. Above 4400 rpm (I think), the ecu sends a signal to the IAB solenoid that opens the short runners and the engine uses both sets of runners for top end power.
So, when swapping in a gsr, you have 2 options:
1. You can unplug the vacuum from the IAB, and just run them open all the time. Top end will not change, but you will lose some power below 4400 rpm.
2. You can wire up the IAB solenoid to the proper pinout on a P72 ECU. Then it will open and close properly.
Personally, I'm planning to hook them up on the swap I'm working on.
