My sister has the same gen prelude and she also has a 5th gear grind. Try letting the rpms drop to idle while coasting in neutral before you try to put it fifth.

Her prelude is my next race car too It's been sitting undriven for almost a year now since she bought a new car.

I think Spencer was refering to me. My track car has the 4th gen prelude JDM LSD transmission (M2B4) in it. Bolts up to any H22/H23 regardless of 4th or 5th prelude generation. Stock LSD in it, but the 3rd, 4th & 5th gears are too long for the track. On stock 225/50 ratio, 3rd tops out around 95, 4th tops out in the low 120's, & 5th gear would go to a theoretical 160+ mph.

I ended up buying another USDM transmission, as the final drives available for the prelude do NOT fit into the JDM cases. So, after I put the new FD & a new quaife in the new transmission, I'll swap the JDM LSD transmission out of the car. I'll probably have it for sale sometime in late April/early May.

If you do ever want to turn the car into a racecar, I'd avoid the JDM transmissions (as the FD won't fit). However, if you just want to autocross it every once in a while, the stock LSD works great & the first two gears work well for autocross.
