so my passenger side motor mount that is right next to the powersteering is now torn open and all the oil inside seems to be gone ... i have a massive vibration throught the car and i was wondering how long can i run on it cause i dont have enough money at the moment to buy new ones ... is there anything i can do to make sure it doesnt get worse ... im not driving it hard anymore and i dont plan on racing it anytime in the next couple of months so daily driving it within the speed limits should be fine ... any advice would help ... thanks in advance
i wouldn't drive it. i remember an old story of a guy that took a shelby gt500 out and the mount broke on it and the motor tilted, pulling the throttle cable open all the way. the car went out of control at full speed. this is like worst scenario but you get the idea.

you got a point but my motor is still in position and the mount isnt lose or anything like that is just the oil is all gone and a bit of rubber is torn off and hanging ... besides that i didnt seem like it moved very much ... plus i wont be reviving it hard nor hitting vtec very much ... just getting to school, work, and home ... i do get you on it thought but my throttle cables dont look like there in any position to get caught up on the engine itself ... ill take a look at that later ... thanks[QUOTE=phthalo]i wouldn't drive it. i remember an old story of a guy that took a shelby gt500 out and the mount broke on it and the motor tilted, pulling the throttle cable open all the way. the car went out of control at full speed. this is like worst scenario but you get the idea.

Without being able to look at it, I'd see what your comfort level is on cleaning it out really well with brake cleaner or something and filling it with urethane such as 3M Window Weld. Definitely a temporary fix.

samething happened to my passanger motor mount and i just inatalled the esmm's and it fixed right up but of course you r going to get added vibration due to the stiffness of the inserts but sure did fix my motor mount issue its like if its not even there but the mount is still busted and havent replaced it since

So you have enough to fix your car up for 'racing' but now you can't replace a motor mount that you broke doing 5K launches?
If you think driving on a busted mount is a good idea--it really isn't. Especially those main liquid-filled mounts.

well i wasnt launching 5 grams i was launching at 3 cause stock tires, mounts, and suspension cant handle that ... kinda knew that a long time ago ... but warming up my tires at 4 grams still made it hop ... and i was making pretty good money a couple months ago ... but still college is pretty expensive and i took 9 credits this summer and just paid off my fall semester class (14 credits) ... books for each class arent cheap either ... i bought my upgrades when i still had a job and now that i dont have a job i cant just buy motor mounts from anywhere now can i ...
