Coral Orange Pearl Metallic - Is it rare?
I just picked up a '96 DX coupe 5 speed with 95,000 miles. It is Coral Orange Pearl Metallic. It has been garaged since new, and is in awesome condition. I haven't seen other Civics in this color. How rare is it? Was it only used on '96s?
Just curious.

There's no such thing as Coral Orange .... it's just called Island Coral Pearl. It's basically pink/orange. It's relatively rare, but not quite as much as Midori.
It can be done right, but mostly, it's just ugly.

Autotrader is wrong. It's not called "Coral Orange" and it's not a metallic.
That page is FULL of wrong information:
Red
Dark Green Pearl Metallic
Grayish Blue Metallic

Island Coral Metallic
Yellow Green Pearl Metallic

And as Eran said, Autotrader is wrong. Autotrader is not an expert on cars. They give minimum info for the average car buyer. The average car buyer wants a rough idea of colors at the most. "Green", "blue", "red", etc.
The color name, in reality, is Island Coral Pearl. The color code is R-95P. Honda uses "P" as the last character of a color code to denote that color being a pearl and "M" as the last character of a color code to denote that color being a metallic.
As far as the number of models it came on.... yes, it's rare in the US. As far as the number of cars total it came on... it's not in the least bit rare.
It came on the following cars:
'96-'97 2DR DX
'96 2DR HX
'96 4DR LX
Though that's not a lot of models, there are a LOT of DX coupes, HX coupes and LX sedans out there.

Thank you. Eran is correct.
All USDM and EDM engine codes (at least all modern ones) are in the format of "X00X0". Some JDM engine codes are also like this, though most are in the format of "X00X".

It can look good, just not many people even try with it.
First step is, clean it! Do a detail on it and it will look much better.

Way to respect people's opinions. If everyone agreed with you, we'd drive the same car.
