A little help with my JDM EF9 straight from Japan
Hey im currently building a Sir EF9 from Japan the car is missing the wiring harness and I was going to put a USDM Si wiring harness on it. the pugs plug right in to the firewall harness. The car is getting a built B18C1 My question is, is that the car is all ready wired for vtec on the firewall wiring, right? What is the difference? what wires am I going to have to cut and rewire. Or should I just wire vtec right from the ecu? Thanks -Dan
what Si harness are you refering too? the b16a2 from the usdm si coupe? if you are going to put the b18c1 motor, why not that harness too?

For someone that has been here since 04 you’re kinda talking nonsense, you have a jdm ef9 right hand drive? Can you even register that in CA? Sorry it’s been 17 years since I left I can’t remember. You have a d17 but you want to swap a b18c in? Well I would think you will need an ecu and an engine with paper work for each and you will need to hook up and the original smog equipment to pass the bar. I would think going to obd1 would be the best route. I’m not sure if the jdm and usdm harnesses are interchangeable. I would get a hold of Ryan at Rywire.com if I was you. I would say he is the hands down wiring expert. Good luck

sorry its not for me its for my buddy I just put it as it was mine to slim up the convo. I am building it for him tho for tattoo work. ive been building EF’s sense I was 14 and im 21 now lol so I don’t know what “ive only been here sense 04” has to do with anything but thatnks for the info tho. Ill look in to it. You can register it In cali it’s a bitch to do tho. The motor is OBD2A and BAR is **** about the same computer. same motor BS. The D17A2 is in my 89 dx civic sorry for the confusion. bolth are 89's.
To register a right hand drive Car in California First you have to get the car towed to the Bureau of Automotive Repair other wise known as BAR/ REF.
Then get it approved.
After that the car gets stamped with vin numbers Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs)
If it was deemed unsafe by B.A.R and your in California you have to go out to Napa valley and get it approval there.
After B.A.R. and or Napa you go to get the registration for the car. pay what ever fees there are. you know how DMV is lol
B.A.R.1-800-622-7733 or REF1-800-952-5210
Napa gray valley lab” ask for mike Spencer 1-707-258-1753

Dan,
If I were you, I'd try to find a Right Hand Drive wire harness. Call up Steve at Hmotorsonline and see if he can sell you one. This would be your easiest and best solution. Otherwise, there are a whole lot of people buying 1st gen B16's that are getting a wire harness that wont fit their car, see if you can buy one of those. Converting the Si wire harness would be a large under taking.
But yes, the SiR dash harness should be wired for VTEC, it did come with a B16 after all.
