Default jdm vs. usdm type-r oil pump WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT???????

Well i think this is a better place to get a answer for a type-r then the tech forum. I have a '97 jdm type-r motor and am in the process of rebuilding it for boost. So yesterday I went to the Acura dealership and bought an oil pump (usdm).....when i bolted it up to the block I noticed that my timing belt cover (jdm) no longer fit. WTF!!!!!!!! the usdm pump has a place for a crank sensor and the jdm version doesnt, but the crank sensor is inside my distributor and i have a usdm distributor WTF!!!!!!! what should i do?
