Default ESP-net H22A Crx going Boost build thread (pshhhhh)

Thought I would start my own build thread. I am going to the darkside. The victim is my 90 H22A Crx HF. I do like to drive my car often so turbo choice was critical. Since I am just getting my feet wet with turbo, I thought no better kit then a custom 18G TDO5H Greddy with a twist. My crx doesn't have much room being a H22 Crx, but I think I can make it happen and look good as well. I already have Crome. The engine has about 5k miles on it from it's fresh rebuild and it doesn't seem to eat any oil at all so I figured the engine should be up for a lil boost. I am right at 10.8-11-1 compression. The bottom has ACL bearings and ARP rod bolts. Also has some rare thick JDM H22 rods ideal for boost. My goal is to have it at 7-8 psi and get about 250+ whp and about 220 ft lbs of torque. I have 200 whp now. So I'd imagine get 50 whp should be achievable. I will post pictures of the build as it happens.

The Kit:
Greddy 18g TDO5H with use of internal WG
Greddy Type RS bov
Greddy Turbo Timer
Turbo XS mbc
26"x6"x2.5" end to end IC
2 1/4" IC plumbing to 2.5" to FMIC and to TB
Stealthmode kit
P28 Crome
450cc DSM Blue Top injectors should do the trick for 7-8 psi
Walbro 255 LPH B and M FPR and Gauge

Stuff I am going to Fab:
Turbo Manifold
Turbo Downpipe 2.5" to 3" exhaust system mandrel bent
IC plumbing
Possibly a custom radiator

Here's a couple recent pictures:

I was thinking there's no way in hell you're getting a decent sized turbo in there, but actually it looks like you got room to work with. Not alot mind you, but there's def. some room in front of the engine!

a nice half radiator and you'll have more than enough room.

your not going to get around 250whp on 7-8 psi with a partially built h22 (assuming its built if its putting out 200whp). Your probably looking around 300whp+ with that setup which is even better i guess, thats things going to be crazy

the saddiest part is you have more room in your engine bay then I did in my ef with a d series lol

You'll have to work around the alternator, but that shouldn't be any worse than having AC in the way.

hmm I thought 250 whp tops would be pushing it with a Greddy 18g at 7-8 psi...maybe I under estimated it...

Yes car made 200 whp and 168 ft lbs of torque in Dec. with it's fresh rebuild and with our custom ESP 4-2-1 H22A header and I/H/E p28 Crome tuned. Dyno is below.

Internals are Stock the parts that aren't are SS stock replacement valves (glad I did that a while back) ACL bearings, ARP rod bolts, and below is a picture of the Rare JDM H22 thicker rods I believe this rod set was only found within like 1 out of 12 JDM H22's in it's first years of existance 91-93. You can definetly tell the rod on the right is way beefer...ideal for boost...

in for this build. I would think 7 psi on an H22 will get you quite a bit more than 250 whp...

What type of manifold are you going to fab up?

Just about done recieving all parts in the mail to start the build...just waiting on some couplers, T bolt clamps... stealthmode oil line kit came in today
finally recieved my 18g TD05H...I"ll probably get it checked out tom. make sure it's good...recieved the Greddy turbo timer...pretty much got everything but mandrel bends for IC piping and manifold and downpipe...which I have a local stash that will hook me up...18g definetly smaller then I thought which is good for room wise. I'll post more pix as I get going...but for now it looks like this will be a weekend thing...I am swamped on orders...

I think a lil quick 4/ shorty manifold will work the best although a nice top mount would be blinging but for it's purpose and function would be overkill on this project

The T25/T28 turbo inlet and outlet are going to work...just about a perfect match

First thing I'll tackle is the turbo manifold I'll post pictures of that sometime next weekend...

Sounds like a good plan to me. I'd agree, the shorty quick 4 type mani would do great for this setup. It's good that you're making it too cuz alot of them have issues with the turbo being too low and not being able to drain oil properly. Something to remember when fabbing it up. I still can't get over how good the swap looks and how much room is up front. There's more room up front in your car than mine with a b18c. I'd change to this swap if I hadn't just built the b18... I can't wait to see this thing done. Smaller turbo + torquey h22 = blast to drive.

Sounds awesome. 250whp should be within range, I would expect around ~275whp personally.

I want to buy mounts/traction bars from you soon for an EF (less than a month)!
