Default 275/35/15 Hoosier A6

Ask and ye shall receive...

From Jeff Speer of HRT (Hoosier)

Emilio,
The new size which has been approved for production, is the
P275/35ZR-15. The diameter will be 22.9" with a tread width of 10.3".
On a 9.5" wide rim, the total width should be 11.25".Initally this size
will only be offered in the autocross A6, until I see a demand for this
size in club racing which uses the R6 compound. I am hoping to have
this size ready by late Feb. or early March.
The ideal rim width would be a 9.0" or a 10.0" wide rim. I am sure if
the competitor has class rule restrictions, a 8.0" could be used as
well.

Hope this helps and you are able to market a good quality race wheel,
15x9 or 15x10.
Have a nice Christmas next week.
- Jeff Speer, HRT

That would be 15x9.5

start? the serious guys have been cutting them for a while now. while i think this is downright awesome, i'm curious just how long these tires will be offered. oh, and since guys have been using 9.5" wheels with 225's, i predict 10.5-11" wheels will be used now. hey rodney, time to order up some new wheel halves!

WOW. I didn't actually think those emails to Hoosier would work! Rodney, remember when I clearanced your front fenders for the 225-50's and screwed it all up? Let me know if you want a hand with getting the 275's to fit...I'll bring the chainsaw.

Talked to the engineeer, can't use any of the existing tooling to start with. That being the case I'm looking at a variation on the 6UL with a larger hub center that will accomodate larger 5 lug patterns too. Probably a 9.5 " wheel though, not a 10. Just investigating at this point. It's a very narrow focus application so doubtful if I could sell enough of them to make it worthwhile (pay for the tooling).

Anyone here have any idea what offset to use on a 15x10 wheel to fit an ef hatch front fender? Cutting of course is a given but I'm talking about back space..

My 15 x 8.5" Kodiaks had a 5.75" backspace. Clemsonhatch has them now. I ran them on the EF with a 1/8" spacers to clear the front of my Wilwood Superlite 4 piston calipers. If I had been running OEM calipers, I would not have needed the spacer. If you had your wheels built with the same backspace, you would be right on the money, or really close. Too deep a backspace can be tuned with spacers. Too little, and you need to re-machine the centers.

The backspacing is perfect for my EG hatch, no spacers needed on the front. On the rear I use 1/4" spacers to clear the trailing arm.

I'll be ordering 2 outer shells to widen the fronts to 10-10.5"

this tire size is really making me wish i could afford going to SP. 275's up front, 225's out back sounds like all sorts of fun.

That's what I'm going to run

So you guys think 10" or 10.5" wide?

11-11.5".

15x9.5" worked w/the 225's that had an overall width of ~9" or so iirc. these are supposed to be just over 11", so a wheel somewhere in that neighborhood is probably right.

i'm wishing i had bought some 3-piece kodiak's for the STS car instead of SSR's. maybe then i could just spring for some wheel halves and be all set.

You can keep the SSR's on the rear and just get 2 Kodiak's for the front...

Buying the Kodiak's from Jaker was one of the best mods to the hatch yet. I can't wait to bolt the 275's on and actually be able to put some power down. Corner speed should be better than with the 225's. All in all this is what I was waiting for without going to 18's...which I was very close to doing.

Same here. I've been seriously considering going to 18's as well and almost did once already.
This is great news.

If any Honda has a shot at DSP, it's going to be a 94-00 Integra or a 92-95 Civic Si. Find out how much Kugler's FSP car weighs and add about 40 lbs to that, and you'll have the weight of a DSP Si.

How much does Kugler's FSP EG weigh anyways?

a DSP 92-95 Si is gonna be light. light enough? i'm not sure. really low 20xx's shouldn't be unattainable. 94-95 models will have to backdate to the earlier dash to ditch the other airbag.

a 94 Teg RS with the ITR motor/trans would be tough to beat though. it is heavier and more front heavy, but it's gonna have better gearing and a lot more power.

the difference in weight between a DSP EG and an FSP EG is going to be closer to 50lbs with the heavier wheels/tires the DSP EG would use. the FSP honda's probably won't go to the wider tire simply due to gearing. they'll probably stay on the 225/45/13's. i'd still try the 275's though if i had an FSP car.

how about a 245/40/15 A6 too for some rear tires.

or for people that don't want to run the 275/35/15

then you can run 245/40/15 up front and some 225/45/15 in back. with those sizes some people might be inclined to buy six rims and have 3 different sizes available .
