Has anybody ever had to adjust their clutch pedeal after a clutch install?
Car: 2002 Accord Cpe, 4 cyl (F23).
Clutch & parts used: Clutchmaster FX300, Fidanza flywheel, Nachi throwout bearing
I just did a clutch job for a client and the install seemed to go just fine. It was my first of this year, make, and model and I was a bit rushed, but finished the job in just under 6 hours.
I start the car and I can't get the transmission to go into gear with the engine on. With the engine off, it'll row through all the gears. What's worse is that car wanted to creep if you tried to press the shifter into gear. At that point, I knew the clutch wasn't disengaging.
I recounted my steps and tried to make sure that I had put the clutch in with the thicker side of the hub facing the transmission. Pretty sure I did.
We then ended up bleeding the clutch system for half an hour, using up 1/2 a bottle of Honda brake fluid.
We called it quits and called a guy to tow the car. Coincidentally, the tow driver is the same guy that dropped the car off to us. Keep in mind that he got a $12.50 tip the first time for just a short drive across town.
My client and I part ways and he calls me later to tell me that the car drives fine now. Apparently the tow driver had adjusted the clutch pedal to shorten the free play. 20 minutes of work and another fat tip of $15, and the clutch disengaged just fine. As embarassing as it is to say it, I got out-diagnosed by a tow truck driver.

yes a couple times back in the day. when i had my flywheel resurfaced, they took alot off. which changed the contact distance to the fork. which ended up in having to adjust the pedal. then one time after another install, i had a third gear grind for a while. couldn't figure it out for a couple months. then the pedal finally came to mind.

It would have been the last thing to cross my mind. I probably would have taken it all apart just to find out everything was just fine.
Hopefully, it still doesn't have any problems tomorrow. I guess we'll see when I go to pick up the payment.

i see lots of questions on here about the same thing. it's for sure the last thing on most minds. i also thought about taking it back apart but i knew it was right, double checking everything along the way.
