Default 92-95 keyless entry

I know a guy who wants to install a keyless entry system on a car that's basically the same as mine (94 EX) (I have a 95 EX) - anyways, I told 'em I'd search for something online, so I went to ebay to see what I can find but all I can find is the remote in and of itself or a whole system with the selenoids 'n all...now he's got power door locks already...so he shouldn't need the selenoids, right? It should all be electrical...I do believe anyways, I don't see a need for new selenoids as it's already got electrical ones... So I can't find a kit for him, anybody have any links?

PS:
I dunno if he wants an alarm or not, as he wants it for convenience rather than security (and I definately hear that (convenience) as my GTI has keyless & it's hella convenient (wow, how many times can I use that word in one sentence))

So any links that I can find for 'em - kinda owe him a birthday present anyway so I know he wants this I'll buy & install it for him when he's at work or something, it'll be a nice surprise I suppose...Anyways, hook me up w/ some linx plz and I'll try to weisel it into a conversation tomorrow if he's looking for an alarm or not...

thx

That's my point, why do I need to buy selenoids? There's selenoids already in there because he has power drlocks..and this sytem comes with an alarm?

I talked to him today and it seems he only wants it for convenience purposes, not neccessarily for the alarm aspect because we really do live in an INCREDIBLY low crime/theft area...so the question is will I need to purchase a kit with selenoids or since they're already in there just use the power selenoids that are in there and install the kit electronically...but an alarm would be a nice touch though..I jsut KNOW he doesn't wanna be bothered with a kill switch 'n ****...

So any help is thx, fast plz, his birthday's in mid august and u guys are the only pples who now about this..

at axtran again.....I'll search for ungo systems see what they got..but can somebody plz answer my question about the selenoids...

If the car (stock) came with keyless entry then you should be able to go back to the dealership and get another one with the VIN number.

If you don't want to do that then (regardless of the crime area or not) you should get an alarm. The alarm will be able to trigger the door actuators.

Now if you don't want to get an alarm, then you can just buy new door actuators and a keyless remote to go with it...

That's pretty much my point...I have to change the lock actuators out? I can't use the ones that are in there and just tap into the electrical system? Because there's no stock keyless entry in hsi car...but he's got power door locks...so I figure the actuators are electric...there's g2 be a way to lock/unlock them by fitting a module in someplace, no? Or do I have to buy new keyless entry door lock actuators? (just doesn't make sense)..what would the difference be??

Either way can somebody plz really help me out here because his b-day's comin up and I wanna do this on his b-day so it's ready when he comes out from work O.o

thx

EDIT:
I"ll buy an alarm if I really have to but I don't wanna spend 400 bucks on some high end viper alarm system... he wants keyless entry for convenience, I wanna install it for him, with or without an alarm system - doesn't really matter I suppose b/c I doubt I'd hook it up right so that if somebody did jack his car they'd be able to cut the siren wire...

Tho like I said, the door actuators are already electric...so wouldn't there just be some kind of module with a transmitter instead of new actuators and such?

ANybody have any links to component sites (besides ebay)?

An alarm is fine, better safer I suppose but if it's a real PIA to hook up and not worth the hassle then it's not worth it..., like I said, he wants the keyless entry for convenience..

Ask questions about your alarm systems on this thread. Make sure you read first though, a lot of alarms where covered

yo, dog, are u actually readin my posts???

He isn't even concerned at all about an alarm...he wants keyless entry, I'm just asking if I have to buy door actuators that work with the keyless entry or does anybody know of a company that makes modules because his car already has electronic actuators, they just aren't keyless entry...so I'm assuming....in probable accuracy that there has to be a module out there some place that's a receiver and goes between the harness/switch and the actuators to use as keyless entry...

I'm almost positive I can use the electronic actuators that are in there w/ a module & some wires... I don't understand why I would need to pull the electronic actuators that are in there - because they're electronic, not keyless...but electronic, not manual, POWER door locks..

So I'm basically looking for a kit for him, if it comes with an alarm or not doesn't matter to him --just need somethin that I can hook up keyless entry system for him...preferably w/o new actuators if I can help it...

So I ask again, does anybody know of any kits or links alarm/no alarm, whatever, that have the module, wiring, receiver, an extra channel and horn beep output... (trunk and horn)... And will I need different door actuators (lock actuators) - or will the already electronic ones that are in there for the power door locks be okay?? I mean ****, I'll put the system together if that's what it takes, but I dunno what parts to get, what I can or can't use, and how to hook it up...I have to assume that there's a module out there that goes to a receiver and just split before the dr lock switch and the harness to activate/deactivate the power door locks...

PS: I'm tryin to stay away from ebay stuff....

Plz, somebody, help me, I refuse to believe that there's that many people that are completely ignorant to the subject - HT"s got more skillz brain wise than that

And yes, I've been searching, but all I can find is these full ebay kits with the door actuators and all the trimmings...I'm not lookign for ebay crap though...but I'm not looking for some high end compustart $450 system that'll beep to tell him if somebody's jerking off within 50 ft of his car....

If it's a Honda, you need security, regardless of the area you live in.

I wouldn't waste time/money doing a keyless entry when you might as well do an alarm instead. Pretty much the only difference between a good keyless entry system, and an alarm, is a siren and a start kill relay. Some keyless entries even have the start kill option.

If it has power door locks, you hook up two wires. You don't need actuators.

If you want the cheap yet quality alarm, I recommend a Viper 1000 or a Crime Guard 745i.

Plus there's always that guy who just buys an exhaust, then a header, he wants more power so he goes turbo D, then he lowers it and spend around $5000 and someone steals his ride. He's made at the world and can't understand where he went wrong.....buy an alarm man. You'll be happy that you did.

lol, Yeah, I'm probably going to buy him an alarm, the whole system seems better than just keyless entry in my eyes...

Like I said, it's a birthday present for a good friend of mine, wanna take the car while he's at work (his g/f'll give me the spare key), take it here, install the system, drop back off, and put the keyless entry keys in his inbox (he works in an office)

SHould be a nice touch for a birthday present, know he always wanted keyless entry, keyless entry + alarm = the beginning of a security system...

Just wanna get one that has lock/unlock trunk pop (if possible on a 94 civic because I'm not sure if the trunk mech is mechanical or electrical), and lights/horn beep on lock/unlock

if I can get an alarm on it, that'll be great, if not, spose I'll hve to settle for just keyless entry
