daily driven, looking for a mild set up, on a low budget? look through the classifieds for a used Greddy Kit. You should be able to find one for under 2k complete.

You should easily be able to put together a good custom turbo kit for $1500. Go here and do some research... http://www.homemadeturbo.com

If your on a budget or just don't feel like spending a bunch of money for fuel management chip your ECU with Crome.

as long as you have the time to wait for amazing deals to come along, you should be able to come in under your budget.

Ive been building my turbo kit for 3+ years. All I got left to get is the fuel pump, wideband, and misc pipes and hoses. I've been able to keep it under $800 so far.

3 years for a freakin turbo kit? good god man. walbro 255's are ALWAYS 60-100. If youre waitin to find one for $30 bucks... unlikely.

I took my time, 2 months. Got awesome deals and it came to ~$1,700 with tuning. Tial, HKS, MAXREV, RC, WALBRO etc. Quality parts is what im getting at.

i ended up spending a bit over 2000 bucks...buts thats because i went with a number of new parts like the injectors, piping, and other parts. also, i had to do an obd1 conversion, so that adds to the price as well.

Hopefully within a year I will be doing the same thing. Not aiming for high numbers or lots of boost, just a small turbo to have fun with. Maybe a T-25, or a 14b. I'm a noob when it comes to running oil lines and vacuum lines though

9psi on a stock GSR should be more than the 210 you are looking for on a good tune

look around for pieces if you want to put together a little custom kit that will be suitable for your application

remember the tuning is the key for reliability, get it done by a reputable tuner and has it tuned for maximum reliability not maximum power

seriously, i would love to give any die-hard NA is best lover a ride in my car. they may or may not be impressed with the performance, but at least they'll know what its like to be in a well-running and tuned turbo car.

theres just way too many guys out there that knock turbo stuff because of a "friend" or someone they know blew a turbo engine because of lack of tuning, so they assume all turbo cars suck.

At one point i thought i could spend about $1500 on a turbo kit and tune, ive almost doubled it and i still need tune and install, just save up and do things the right way.

If you know people that can weld/fabricate you can save a shitload of money. It also helps knowing somebody that can chip/tune your ECU as well. Learning to do all this yourself isn't really that difficult either, just takes practice and time.

haha, i pieced my kit together for about $1200 and threw down 210whp on a conservative tune using greddy e-manage and would have made way more power on better fuel management. u can definately do it, but choose your parts wisely, research, research, research!!!!!!

One of the "cheaper full" kits is the Greddy kit, which is $2600 without installation. You should also get a stronger clutch.

If you want to buy a used turbo kit, you may spend around $1500. Maybe this is the way to go for you.

i spent a bit over 2k, but it's no biggie. i had the idea of spending 1k-1500. but when i started looking into, why make an ugly kit?

i'm making 278@9psi...you can be well over 200hp.

you can run fmu and pull a kit together for under 2k. especially if you get all used stuff. half of my stuff is new.

sorry for a double post but i found this old thread where i wrote some stuff that might help you.

refer to this thread:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1599420

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by undercoverdc2 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">whatever you do, just don't get an ssautochrome kit from ebay. the chances of having a good kit from them is very low. lol

but anyways...my greddy option is really good if you wanna choose that route for a complete kit. if not here's a walk through of what you can find on HT.

-tubular log manifold from an HT sponser or a fabricator on HT. (roughly around $250-300 275 seems to be the average.) the tubular manifolds are better than the cast ones. they're not proned to crack and just about all fabricators offer warantee on HT.

-downpipe, better get from the same guy as your manifold. that way it'll come to fit. otherwise you'll have to custom fit it after the install. (they usually run around 200-300. depending on the size you want. get 3inch )

-turbo: for a gsr, i would recommend you get a t3 super 60 .48a/r or a t3/t4 .48a/r .57trim (price varies depending on if it's used or new. i would recommend getting a new turbo. i would say 400-600)

-wastegate...most common external is the 38mm. i would recommend you getting an internal wastegate if you don't plan to turn up the boost much. it'll save you some money. (38mm external wastegates usually run 190-205)

- intercooler pipes, i would say get 2.25inch pipes. (i got all my piping done through CRPturbo.com...i don't think it's on his site, but you can always PM him on ht too, his user name is hulkhb. spoolinfab offers intercooler piping on HT too, his username is project dc2. price varies from 200-300, depending on if you need couplers, clamps, and shipping)

-blow off valve, any will do. even old dsm ones. they all operate the same, just different sounds. (price varies cause you can get some at the junkyard for 50 or buy new ones for more)

-injectors, for the price. i'd say get the dsm 450's and resistor boxes. it'll be cheaper than dishing out for RC440's or 550's. (dsms are usually 50, resistor boxes are usually 20 or so. RC's are 200+)

-clutch, get a good one

-tuner...find a good one in your local area.

that's what i'd get if i wanted a street setup, budgeted, and didn't need more than 250hp. it doesn't necessarily reflect the opinion of others. lol but it'll be a spoolin monster. lol the stuff i listed gives a little room to grow later if needed too </TD></TR></TABLE>

turbo and cheap dont go together.....on paper piecing the main parts together may seem "doable" but in all reality you should really double your budget for all of the extra little stuff and problems that you WILL run into. Hell im only running 8psi check out my sig of the damage i did (no ill admit im rough on my car). IMO everyone putting together a kit should have a wideband and a boost guage at minimum. There are so many extra mechanical factors that can go wrong in a turbo car.

I HAD exactly the same mentality as all of you thinking that I 'could' put a kit together for ~1500. Yes I did, but in the end it probably came out to around 2700-3000, tuned myself.
