blew the y7 at 14psi updated pics
everyone was calling detonations but i dont think this looks like detonation tell me what you think went wrong.. head looks fine so do the spark plugs pistons isnt melted the rod like ripped outta the piston takeing the blocks life with it
owell got one for cheap today .. really wtf why is the piston all cocked and twisted?

thats what i was screaming but some john( brown hind part people)
a-s-s-h-o-l-e-s* say it was my tune cause i street tuned it myself my afrs were perfect.. just boosted too much i believe when i put on the 3 inch exhaust it just let loose

Man anything can let go the piston looks clean could of been a bad rod. With the RX-1 snowmobiles they snap rods stock just cause they are having probs with the castings. **** happens. Just make sure ur timing is not to advanced as it does put alot of stress on the rods.
Looks like the road snapped at TDC and was forced down jammed up and caused the piston to turn due to combustion power stroke.

its all good though bought a y8 block today from a friend and am fully building it time to max my lil turbo out already ordered my traction bars clutch and pistons gotta save a lil more for my rods and buying a bigger turbo

well im not exactly sure why the motor let loose...but judging from your other post, your timing was too aggressive and you didnt retune after the new exhaust. may not have been the actual cause but still isnt good for your motor. you threw a rod, no big deal, have fun with the y8.

Your timing was too high and you detonated badly. The ringlands in on the piston seized causing the pistons to heat up very quickly and seize the entire piston in the cylinder. At that time the rod ripped the skirt off the piston and ripped a hole through the front of the block and oil pan.
Trust me, my old Z6 did somewhat the same thing. I had my stock exhaust running the stock T25 wastegate with 7psi. Once I changed the exhaust to a 2.5" the boost went up to 10psi with no boost controller. I got myself a ghetto boost controller and turned up the boost and tuned it for 12psi. At the track one night I got too greedy and turned up the boost too high. Before I knew it, I saw the gauge hit 16psi and the motor blew. Actually it was very quiet when it happend, just a small poof and then I heard small pieces of metal hitting the road under the car.
The top of my piston was still intact and my head was still fine aswell. But the skirt of the piston got ripped off and the rod blew a hole behind the flywheel and stayed there till I tore the motor apart.
Too much timing/boost killed your motor. What was the actual total timing you were running at 14psi?

What turbo did you have? 14psi doesn't tell us much. If you had a T4 turbo that would be a lot, but 14psi wouldn't be **** with the DSM T25 turbo. But yeah I agree with these other guys, it blew because it wasn't tuned properly.
looks like you found the limits of the y7 block
. Something was definately out of tune...you cannot really tune for 14 psi on stock block on the street since won't be able to tune timing on the street (your supposed to have a dyno)............therefore your AFR really does not mean much since you tune timing for power first then fuel to control detonation and EGT.

couldnt tell you but i ran a delsol with a boosted gsr tuned with hondata s200 he is running 320whp i was at 14psi before i changed the exhaust and i was only about a car length behind from 0- 110

Racing somebody won't tell you much at all, too many things can affect the outcome of a race. With a T25 at 14psi on a Y7 you will probably be making about 200whp or maybe a tad bit more. T25's are pretty small and I made 230whp at 12psi on a Z6 with a bigger turbo than yours.
