Default The official H/F piston/rod/crank/block specs and CR thread

Well, since I started this a while back in another thread I figured it was about time to finish what I started and make a definitive answer thread for anyone looking for piston, rod, crank and block specs or compression ratios of various H, F or H/F combinations.

Anything anyone wants to add to this thread post up whatever info or specs you have and Ill add it to this original post. I am putting up only what i have personally measured and or quoted direct from the helms manual. I dont want this thread to get cluttered with he said she said specs so Im asking that we limit contributions to first hand spec acquisitions and or helms manual references only. Whatever I have missed or havent measured myself, please feel free to post and contribute. The items i have yet to measure or discover I will leave blank until myself or another member provides the information.

Im going to start by adding a few specs that I can think of off the top of my head now, I will return later tonight and add some more info which will include a few CR calculations.

If I leave something blank and you have the information/specs plase post it up and I will edit this post and ad the new additions to the thread.

Added F20B, Added Pirates contributions and recomended corrections

Thanks Pirate

Bearing thicknesses/colors will be added shortly as well

As soon as we can get all the dome volumes I can get started on the compression calculations...

If anyone has anything else to contribute, feel free... The more the merrier

Added bearings and seperated the H23A and H23A1 as per FastludeH22's request

I removed the compression calculations portion for now, I will add it later on as dome volume specs become available...

Keep the info/specs coming!

Working on getting the USDM H22, JDM H22, F20B and H23A1 pistons cc'd...

I will hopefully have all of that soon...

The first of the compression calculations will directly follow

Added block types...

Contributions welcome

Added the F22 combustion chamber volume for now, awaiting confirmation on that... I think it may be 50cc so Im going to look a little firther into it...

Thanks for the contribution Tom

possible add f20c and compression height for atleast h23 and h22, and add proper way to find compression ratio

f20c
it is 87mm bore
frm cylinder walls

bastard child of f series.

i have 1.3cc for h22 piston dome
-11.55 for f22 dish

I am going to leave the F20C/F22C out of this thread because I want to make this specific to the prelude Prelude/Accord.

Are the dome H22 and F22 dome volumes measurements/Helms quotes or back calc's?

I dont want to include any back calculations because they are never really as accurite as measuring. I am going to see if I can get all the pistons cc'd so we can have some definitive specs to use. I am working on getting the USDM, JDM H22 and F20B pistons done first and plan to have the rest follow.

Default F20B Rods with F23 Crank???

Ok, this is a little off the wall... I know F20B rods are physically thicker, but if you had them grinded down to .780 on the ends they would fit on an F23 crank... Would they fit in the block if you had a custom short piston... Or would you need a deck plate? That would probably yield a decent r/s and some good displacement...

If you took .155 off the BE of the F20B rod you might as well throw the rods away... Also, the puney F23 rod bearings are not what you want for a motor that will do anything more than take you to get groceries...

Ill cover all and everything you ever wanted to know about crank/rod mods/swaps and secrets in another informative thread similar to this one... I should have that up by the end of next week...

Stay tuned, several write ups and informative threads to come

I've never head this mentions before but am I to assume that 98+ F22 cranks have 55mm mains just like the jdm H23A???

Is there a 98+ F22?

If so what specific year/model vehicle can it be found in?

Let me know and Ill give my brother whos hard at work over at good ol' Honda a call and do a little part number verification...

I guess not, I didn't realize that they only had the 2.2 CL in 97, and then got rid of it for the 2.3 in 98...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been crunching some numbers and H23 crank w/H22 rods, as well as H22 crank w/F20B rods, both some feasible with custom pistons... It only increases both rod/stroke ratios by two hundredths, but that is a slightly better r/s and you have some good displacement there... However, using F20B rods would require having the BE bored out... I know you probably have a million combinations in your head Rick, I've just been thinking about stock rod/crank combos... I haven't begun to think about custom length rods(or B-Series), or even offset grinding cranks...

You dont want to bore the BE of the rod, if anything you want to turn down the rod journal...

I have a crank mod/rod swap thread in the works that will answer all your questions and then some... That will be the first of several write ups and projects I have coming up for the prelude forum...
