my diy front splitter
i luckily have a friend who has access to a water jet and i use autocad on a daily basis. i drew up some mounts and he cut them for me.
used a cheap ebay lip as an air dam. splitter blade height isn't optimal, but can be fixed with an new airdam because the blade mounts are height adjustable. I didn’t really know what my final ride height would be until now. I got around to rolling my fenders and the 225 tires will most likely rub if I go any lower on the coilovers.
Hoping to test it out on Sunday at NJMP’s Lightning course.

i took some better pics with a camera and not my cell phone. sorry for the selfy with me (~175 lbs.) standing on it...didn't have anyone around to take a pic! haha

hahaha...can't get anything past you guys. my pads are now in a friends drag car. i'll get some new padding b4 i hit the track.
true. props to kiwi for his setup. i was trying to not completely copy his. originally i wanted to have clevis pins for quick disconnect, but i couldn't get the mounting hole tolerances tight enough to have zero blade flutter.

yes. actually 1/2" 4-ply birch plywood that is more for furniture building. the regular grade plywood was junk and warped. 1/2" has a little deflection if i stand on it right in the middle of the mounts, so i'll go with 3/4" next time. that's also a 175 lb. point load in the middle. an even load across the surface probably wont deflect at all.
thanks. haha...i did notice the missing nut and it will be addressed. i have aftermarket motor mounts so there isn't much movement, nonetheless, i will put a nut on it.

i hope its not too strong. ive learned how to bend my tow hook points/ splitter bracket attachment points back because my first blade was too strong (and i hit it real effin hard)
looks god tho. it will definitely work as intended. may as well add a wing also.

Re: my diy front splitter
i've read thru a bunch of the other threads and that the design should be that it breaks away to avoid being black flagged, etc. not really my concern as i'll be tooling around at hpde, but i would rather it break away and not hang out to cause more damage. planned for the aluminum angle to be the weak point if i do some track lawn maintenance. if i go off i'm pulling in/over regardless.

Re: my diy front splitter
He means if you go off and bury the splitter that you don't bend tow hook cups or frame . You want it strong enough but not so it damages the car . Been there done that .
I went off and drive straight and the left side of the splitter dug in , spun me around and lifted the right side if the car to almost tipping point. Had to change left side frame rail .

Nice setup; go get yourself some elevator bolts at lowes or home depot so they sit flush on the underside.
These guys are right, you have too much hardware strength on there. I did the same on my setup I was making.

Thanks for the critiques guys.
The blade bolts are flush on bottom. I used 10mm tee nuts that have prongs that embed into the wood.

Re: my diy front splitter
Very nice!!!
I must agree with the concerns above about what happens when things go very wrong, off track excursions. Kiwi's setup has been there when I need it with regards to aero grip and even more so with those "oops" moments when Ive gone off track. so far Ive cracked a splitter, bent 2 splitter brackets, bent one frame bracket [thank goodness the frame did not bend]. Everything that cracked or broke did so without damaging the car.
oops moment
