2022 Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo: A Closer Look
The most expensive Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo Touring model is still a great bargain.
CAR
With the high cost of cars today, it's nice to have a sensible and reliable vehicle at a reasonable price. The Honda Civic has always filled that role, and the redesigned model for 2022 continues that trend.

PRICE
The base price of a Civic runs about $22K. This is the loaded Touring model. It has no options, just a flat fee of $29,295. The list of standard equipment is long.
ENGINE
The base Civic has a 2.0 liter four rated at 158 horsepower. The Touring motor is an upgraded 1.5 turbo cranking 180 hp, rated at 31/38 mpg. Our real-world mileage ran between 29/34, however, a longer highway trip cruising at 75 mph did produce 42.3 mpg!
GEARBOX
The transmission is a CVT. Instead of their excellent Honda push-button controls, the Civic still uses a traditional stick shift to pick gears. A 6-speed manual is offered, but only on the hatchback car.
PADDLES
can be chosen manually with paddles on the steering wheel.
DRIVE MODE
A drive switch offers Normal, Sport, or Eco modes of operation.
INFO SCREEN
The 9-inch info touch screen is on the small side, but easy to use.
CLIMATE
The Climate controls are easy to use. The air vent design looks very nice.
GAUGE
The gauge cluster is well designed.
WHEELS
18-inch Alloy wheels are standard. With a front MacPherson strut suspension, rear multi-link suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes, the Civic is a pleasant daily commuter. The ride is comfortable, with brisk handling.
REAR
All Civics are a good value, but the upgraded Touring version will provide years of service in comfort and style. It's a good buy at $30K.
