I just bought a 90 crx si . motor took a chit .

looking to drop a b18c1(gsr) in the car.

what problems did you guys run into ?

my main concerns are

~b18c1 intake manifold clearnaces
~alternator(probably bang in like b16's)
~front crossmember
~wiring
~mounts( will b16 mountr kit work?)

here is a pic of my ls/vtec w/ GSR head. Same height as a B18c1. The B16 mountkit will work just fine, you will need to get a Cable B-series tranny for the swap.

The alternator will clear, with normal pounding on the frame rail.



Intake manifold clearence? good question, I have seen them installed before with pretty much no problems,

You will have to chop the front mount bracket off the cross member, or beat it down so it doesnt hit the motor.

Wiring, you can use your factory si harness no problems, the coolent temp sensor will need a newer style plug, and you will have to do your basic wiring of the vtec swap. I belive its 4 extra wires? You have 2 ecus you can run, PWO or PR3, both are B16a ecus, and wont be enough, so I would recommend getting a Vtec controller to adjust your fuel needs. Or go the easy way and contact Zdyne, and do the 1 wire conversion, plus they can remap your ecu anyway you need to. I have a pretty good map tune for the ls/vtec you could use.
