Default Wheels

Sup ppl

I went into my local wheel shop today (I have NO experience with wheels) to do a little price shopping...I wanted to get something fairly light and not too expensive. Well I was awe struck seeing such awesome wheels as the Volk Racing TE 37 and Racing Hart CP-10 (errr I think it was CP-10) anyhow there was noway I could afford any of those...So I was looking into the knock offs...I especially liked the Rota Sub Zeros the guy at the shop said that the 16's are 14lbs...which I although they aren't even close to the Racing harts...I thought were respectable. He also said that he would part with a set of 16's wrapped in Kumho (sp?) supra 712 rubber. For $1650 cdn

Right now I have some crap rims and a set of Michilin X-ones.

1. Is there anything wrong with knock offs? Build quality etc...

2. Are there any other lightweight rims in that price range?

Thanks!

do like i did.. get a set of 96-99 civic hx rims 14.5" , get them bitches powder coated for $130 for the set, and with the $ you saved get some sticky zr's rubber.. total cost
$250 rims
$130 powdercoat
$400 rubber
under $800 for 11.75 lb rims in the color of your choice and good rubber.. what a deal.. thats if you dont mind 14's though..

elusiveracing7- You wouldn't happen to have any pics of your car with the HX rims on them would you? Also where did you get those rims from....wreckyard???

I was thinking to go 16s with low profile tires.

but your setup sounds pretty amazing...11.75lbs! Do you have problems keeping traction with that light of rim or does the good quality rubber offset that?

Thanks for the info!

i found them off a local parts trader type website http://www.recycler.com $200.. they were flawless, guy didnt know what he had..
I think i have some pics at home, ill try to post if i can find em.. My gf liked the look of em so much she bought a set for $270 and got em painted white.. look like CTR wheels minus 1 spoke.
The tire and rim combo weigh about 28bls combined (zr rubber is heavier). but it still weighs 6 lbs less per corner than 15" 95 gsr rims with stock vr's.
I dont have any traction probs with them at all, of course my car isnt vey powerful. The rubber does a good job of keeping them planted, and when i go to the track i drop the pressures to 28psi, and they work great.
I have some dunlop 8000's on there. 195/55/14.. 195 is great, no rub, but a good footing.. Great auto-x setup also..
