wheel locks, help!!
anybody happen to know what company made these wheel locks? i just recently bought the car and the previous owner doesn't have the key. I've tried just about everything to get these damn things off. any help or ideas would be awesome.

the wheel/tire shop would have been my first stop but, and it a BIG but, the car doesn't run and is in the start of a swap -the axles getting removed is the only thing holding me back.

I would take the car to a wheel/tire shop. They should have some sort of universal key and experience to get it off with out making a mess of things. Should be pretty cheap as well.
They look like the standard McGard locks to me. (McGard also makes the locks that Honda/Acura dealers sell under the Honda brand name.) I could be wrong, though.
If they are McGard locks, some Honda/Acura dealers have a set of "master keys" that can unlock any of them. I doubt they would let them out of their shop, though.
Otherwise, you could try hammering a too-small socket onto the locks to take them off. Might work, might not.

yep lo0ks like the same exact one i had. it looks like the Mcgard one. i hate those wheels locks cause they tend to strip (which happened to me). luckily a local shop had an extra one and they just gave it to me. next thing im getting is new wheel locks.

If there's space around the lugs to fit one of these in there, it should work for almost any similar lock with a pattern in the face of the nut.

Only real protection, would be wheels without adequate space to fit one in there.
When I, er, lost the "key" to my set of Rays lugs (7 sided lug nut supposedly acting as a lock), simply hammering on a 12 point socket worked for me. Destroyed the nuts, but got the wheels off. There was also no space on my wheels to fit the universal gator grip socket in there, so I had to resort to just killing the nuts.

Yes they are Mcguard locks. Unless you have the serial number for the lock, it will be a lot of trial and error to find a matching key. the best thing to so is hammer a small socket on like everyone's already said. Good Luck
ok cool, guess ill give it another try, thanks for the help guys. i might end up whipping out the dremel and enlarging the space around the lugs on the wheels to get alittle more space to work at it. didnt want to screw up the wheels at first but now im getting to the point where i dont care
getting new wheels for it anyway.
thanks again.
